Since I am SABLE - Stash Accumulated Beyond Life Expectancy - I'm trying to work with fabric in my collection. For this project I elected to work on my tubs of Christmas fabric - barely made a dent. Since the prints were busy, I decided to calm things down with narrow borders. This will be go to a charity auction, so I made it lap size, though I'll include a sleeve for hanging.

Angela - the second layout, with the color gradation, is my favorite

I finished the first border by extending the Star points into the white. I’m auditioning another border of graduating colors of Kaffe. Not sure I’m liking it. It may have to grow on me. I think I’ll go down the left side with yellow to dark colors across the bottom.

I messed up on the size of half square triangles for the border. I added extra fabric on opposite corners to make it work

Finished the quilt top yesterday, I think. May add a colorful final border, not sure yet. My backing will possibly be the leftover Kaffe fabric. This has been alot of fun. The border is called Migrating Geese.

The top is finished, and I am so happy with the results, and all I learned from Alex and others. It is a reminder of being positive and finding activities during challenging times. First the pandemic and isolating at home -- so I turned to gardening (hence all the flowers in my quilt). And then weeks of smoke from nearby fires -- so I turned to quilting indoors, and specifically the Kaffe Mystery Quilt with Alex. Thank you all.

Marcigrant, your quilt is beautiful! I have been looking for a "different" border design for my quilt guild quilt challenge. I really like yours. Can you please share how you made it? Is it paper pieced? I have odds and ends of the main quilt left over and this looks like a great way to use them up. Thanks! Beverly

Alex - thank you, thank you, thank you. This has been so much fun and I’ve learned more during these few months than I have in years. Yes some of it was very challenging for me but t I loved it anyway. I hate to say it but t “I needed that.” I love my quilt so much and it will hang in my sewing room for a very long time. Thank you John for all that you’ve done to make this possible. I know you’ve worked very hard on this also. And thank you Barbara you little saint you. You’ve been so good and patient with us. I can’t quilt my quilt yet but will post it again when it’s done.
