Including counted cross stitch projects in a quilt

I have several small counted cross stitch pieces that I did. They are suppose to be Christmas ornaments, but I don't need any more tree decorations. I'm thinking of putting them into a wall quilt. Has anyone done something similar to that? If so, do you have any suggestions or tips?

I haven't put them into a quilt (yet), but I've made many cross-stitch baby bibs that needed to be able to be washed. I've heard of floss running, so for baby bibs I always rinse the floss to make sure it's colorfast. I also am careful to loop the floss around some of the stitches on the back when "burying" the ends of the floss so it is less likely to work loose in the washer. I would do these same things for cross-stitch that I was going to put into a quilt. Of course, if you are making a quilted wallhanging that won't be washed then these things don't matter.

There is nothing to stop you putting anything you want to in a quilt. The cross stitch pieces will probably look really good.

PS please share a picture with us when done so that we may admire and applaud your work.

I've done a wall hanging. Since it was at the beginning of my quilting journey, I can't find a picture right now! But it is hanging still & I think it has been washed at least once. Not really any difference with the aida cloth than regular cotton. I think I tried to make sure I kept the rows of holes in the aida even with the adjoining fabric, so it didn't appear to run uphill/downhill. Go for it!

I know there is at least one cross-stitch group/site that makes xs blocks that are made into quilts for sick children.

I've included counted cross stitch blocks done by my mother in a wall hanging. I laundered the blocks prior to assembling the wall hanging but not since. This wall hanging hangs in my mother's room in the nursing home where she lives. At some point, I will need to wash but will do it by hand.

CarrieG, Did you add fabric behind the aida cloth, or just the batting?

I don't think so, but it's been about 9 years. I know I used cotton batting, not fluffy poly.

Not the greatest picture, but I was being lazy & took it with my kindle.
