Hoffman Challage win!
I know I have been MIA on the forum for a while! I have been spending hours upon hours working on my Hoffman Challenge. There were a lot of firsts for me with this challenge! It is my first Hoffman Challenge, it is the first time I have put a full face into a quilt, it is the first quilt I have completed with some major appliqué in it, and it is the first quilt off of my new sewing machine. And, she (my sewing machine) did wonderfully well in the last hours, under pressure, against a timeline!
Anyway, I was thrilled when the traveling/winners list was finally published and there was my name, and the fact that it won 2nd place in Mixed Technique. That's a pretty big win! You can go to the Hoffman Challenge website, and see pictures of the winners. Well, the pictures will be up in a few days, anyway. They are still working on it. I would post a picture in a heartbeat, if I could with my iPad! Hmmm...maybe I did just get it posted. We'll see.
Two other TQS members that you may know, who's quilt's also won a spot to travel, are Robin Gold, and Robin Gauseck (I may not have the second Robin's name just right.). Congratulations, both!

Congratulations, Dawn! It's beautiful! Hopefully, I'll get to see it next month at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival. They used to show the entire challenge before it split up for travelling, but there was some discussion that that might not happen anymore with Hoffman's move to California, I believe. We'll see!

Thank you all, for your congratulations and words of praise! It means a lot to me! She (her name is Rio, as in Rio de Janeiro) lived with me for so long, that I feel she is part of me! It was hard to box her up and send her away! When I was younger, I was a make-up artist at a high end spa and resort. Doing her eyes, brought back memories! And, by some strange placement of her irises, her eyes will follow you as you move from left to right of the quilt.
For any of you who get to see her in her travels (Sharon? Nancy?) I would love some feedback! What do viewers say about her, and think about her. And, yes, I understand the complete challenge collection will be going to the Longmont show. I'd love to go, but last minute airfare from here is just too much!
Thanks again!
Dawn
