    Linen Quilts

I thought you guys would like to see this linen quilt I just finished for my aunt and Godmother. She is 89 and when i go see her she loves to see my quilts, so I took a linen quilt to show her. She was so excited and asked me to quilt a linen she had purchased in Germany several years ago. Her favorite color is teal. I quilted it with Superior Kimono Silk and wonderfil in the bobbin. The silk thread sews like butter. today I delivered the quilt and she was speechless, which doesn't happen too often, hehe. I had a ball designing and quilting it, which now I would do a few things differently, but she loves it and its hanging in her front room. There is an S in the middle for their last name.

Sharon, that is beautiful! How did you come up with the design for it? The quilting looks like it "belongs" to that piece of linen! Congratulations on such a wonderful piece of work. So glad you had fun doing it and that your aunt loves it. :cheer:

Beautiful, how great to do that for her. The S is a good touch.

That is beautiful Sharon! I particularly love the curved cross-hatching. What a lovely gift, no wonder your aunt was speechless. :cheer:

Sharon, What a lovely, lovely piece of work. The teal enhances the original beauty of the piece and your work makes it such a treasure. Hope I am still interested in redecorating my living room when I'm 89 years old. Your work and your Aunt's spirit makes me smile. I'd love to see greater detail too.

thanks everyone for the lovely comments on the quilt. So here are a couple of closeup pictures. I made several tracing paper templates to play with and decide what to do. I had the cross hatching on the corners and now wish I had kept it that way, because even though the feathers look nice, they aren't my favorite on the quilt. I also wonder if I should have gone back and hyperquilted on the feathers, too. If the cross hatching had been on the corners I think I would have liked the feathers more. But more importantly, my aunt loves the piece.

Nancy, I really appreciated all your input. It did turn out great. Hannalore messaged me yesterday and she is counting the days now and getting very excited to meet us. As it gets closer the plans will get clearer. I know Linda and I will be going on thursday, but I was kinda hoping we could all do dinner on Friday, but will certainly work with your and their schedules. Just a thought. Are you getting snow up there, nice rain here.
