Ritzy and Rosemary: a gorgeous mug rug and in colors Ritzy is sure to love. I, too, would like to know how you made the horse and a little more about the backing (that was such a cool surprise!). B)

The backing was cheater fabric I found on holiday last year at a brilliant price (£3/metre) of which 2 m came home with me  ), The horse is done in Elizabethean Plaited Braid Stitch in some Laura Wawsoleski(?) theads one of you kind mug-ruggers sent me, on a scrap of suiting fabric. The quilting was done from the back- obviously for simplicity. And it also travelled with me to Loch Lomond, where I did some of the stitches on the banks of said loch
Plaited braid stitch is what is used for the stems on the Plimouth Jacket here
Mary Corbet has instructions for it here

                  Super mug rug, Rosemary!

By the way: It's great fun clicking on the 'Thank You' button under the appropriate messages.

                      Hi Ttime -

Welcome to the forum! The pictures in the forum disappeared when the new Web site went up last week. We've tried to remember to post pictures of our mug rugs to the show & tell as well as the forum, so you can see them there. Select "See Quilts"->"Show & Tell Quilts". Then look for the Mug Rugs show & tell group. It has a picture of a mug rug with a bird on it (I don't know if that picture changes, so also check the name). If you click on that, you can see the mug rug pictures. Enjoy!!

Better get yourself a mug of something nice to drink and some cookies. There are lots of mug rugs to look at.
