To all of you that have made this quilt, well done! I just looked through the show 'n tell, enjoying the uniqueness of each quilt. It's quite amazing to see the effect of a bold background fabric. Thanks to all for sharing.

I have just begun cutting and sewing. Had a bad bacterial infection in leg and was out of commission for 10 days!! Darn diabetes!
I find the instructions difficult on DVD and impossible on paper. But then I'm extremely visual.
What did u do about the pattern being printed backwards? Just retrace on back or reverse your brain? Ha
Yours are all beautiful. I'm eager but tonite Comcast won't let me watch my DVD or Netflix or Hulu!!!Arggh!!!!

            Hi Lynn -

I did reverse the pattern to get it to match the picture, but it doesn't really matter for this pattern. Doing it "backwards" would just make the center spin in the other direction. I traced all of the patterns because I like to paper piece with vellum and I didn't want to destroy the pattern if I ever wanted to make it again. I also did my straight borders without using the pattern pieces since that just seemed like more work with out any real pay off. But we each have to find the way that works best for us.

Look forward to seeing what you make!!

You can call me MJ. I'm new to blogging and don't know how to use a signature. Thank you everyone for the nice comments and helpful answers to my questions. I'm also doing Janet's A to Z for you and me and see your comments and photos on that blog. Such a talented group of quilters! You all inspire me!

Lynn, I used the paper pattern as is, so if you look at my quilt center you will see what it looks like "backwards." The outer spike center will be the same either way. I'm with Nancy and did my borders on my own. I did photocopy the parts of the pattern I used in case I want to make another quilt. And my internet made watching the videos troublesome occasionally. I just kept at it!

                Have fun!

OK. Got my star done today. You will notice an error which I choose to not change. I got my quarters of the blue reversed. How in the H--- i managed that I don't know, but I'm sure I'm the only one that will notice. I know my kids won't and it's for them! I did also reverse to make the pattern work. Then I just wnet as my brain led me watching the video on my iPhone~
I will haave to say working pp with freezer paper that you fold back and never have to tear off is surely alot easier (and keeps my sewing room alot cleaner.) I'm tempted to use that for the rest. Still thinking.

I agree with you on the fold back freezer paper, but I was determined to follow her directions. In the future I will probably go back to the fold back freezer paper. What a mess I had. LOL
                      I love your star.

This is my Happiness so far. My husband picked the pink I used for the corner squares on the flying geese. Do you think it's too bright?
                          Thanks

That looks great, Sue! I probably would have gone with something a little bit lighter just to provide more contrast between the squares and the geese on the end, but it really does look wonderful the way it is, too. I didn't notice that until you pointed those squares out and I started thinking about it.
