I just wanted to forwarn people that I typically didn't have a problem with the aerosol spray chalk - until I used it on my show quilt.
I had a large, 10" reddish border and used the white chalk. After quilting I vacuumed the quilt and took a dry, white rag and brushed off
what I could. Then I used a cold, wet white rag and tried to wash off the rest. There was still visible markings. I then laundered the
quilt which resulted in red bleed, even though I used an entire box of color catchers! The chalk marks remained. I then scrubbed the
red borders with a toothbrush and a solution of laundry soap and cold water - 3 times! Some of the chalk marks remained and when I
took the quilt to the show, they noted on my entry that there were visible markings in the outer border. What a shame - 50 hours of
quilting and my quilt will get marked down for that.
So - lesson learned! I will never use spray chalk again!!

First of all, I don't think I've ever heard of an Aerosol Spray Chalk. Do you use it with stencils?
So sorry for your heartbreaking lesson! Thanks for sharing it with us so we can be aware of the importance of pre-testing products and fabrics.
From the quilts posted on your TQS profile, I know that you are not a new quilter. We can all learn new stuff no matter how long we've been in this "sport"!

So sorry about the spray chalk! Your quilt looks so beautiful, how sad! Like you, I've used it but didn't have a problem. Thanks for the warning!
Yes, Margo, you use it with stencils. I used it on a flannel quilt. It was really easy and worked really well!
