An Art quilt wins big in Michigan
An art quilt won this year’s ArtPrize in Grand Rapids Michigan. The public vote winner of the $200,000 grand prize is an art quilt! Ann Loveless’ entry Sleeping Bear Dune Lakeshore. This annual art competition is open to all types of art, there are voted winners and juried winners and total of all prize monies is $560,000. Yay for quilting!
Here’s a link to the art quilt and the other link is the local media.

Hello Marilyn, had the flu, then managed to recover just enough to go on our company outing... Went to Tuscany (based in Lido di Camaiore which is next to Viareggio, with outing to Florence & Pisa) with136 people. My colleague and I organized it all, so we're rather hopping before and during. Was great fun and everyone enjoyed it. Hope it won't be another 9 years till our next 4-day weekend outing...
Have been trying to catch up on the forum, now only the blogs to go... And of course work to catch up on too... Only a month and a bit till our largest exhibition. And someone informed me that I have to hand in our 2014 marketing budget by the 24th of this month... Hmmmmmm
C'est la vie! But I spent today sewing. Yeah

Wendy, I'd either have to win the lottery or find a super-rich sugar daddy - both unlikely to happen. But I can dream, right!
By the way, if a ever win the lottery (or find that billionaire who likes classical music and big women with attitude) I'll treat your chickens to a 5-star henhouse.

This is awesome! It just goes to show that there are people out there who realize the truth-quilts are art. Hopefully, as news of this win spreads, more venues will be willing to exhibit fiber art. Congratulations to Patt Blair!!
