Oak Thread Barrels need home
Austin area quilters
I have 2 large wooden thread barrels that can stack or be side by side on a table. Both have a lazy susan attachment and will spin. They are made of oak and can hold a LOT of thread and cones of thread.
Also, I have 2 half barrels that are also large and hold a LOT of thread and cones of thread.
I'm in the Austin area and would like to find a home. They are too nice to toss. Here is why. One of my cats has a thing for thread. Yup. Sometimes she will try and make a spider web all throughout our room from where she has tried to eat it and then woven her way around the room. Unfortunately this time she swallowed a bunch and is recovering from surgery right now. Mostly she will get this thread from behind my sewing machine while it's on the cone holder, but we are being cautious about the storage area too. My thread is now in drawers and away from her paws. My sewing machine has a hard cover and is away from her paws. Now to find a home for the barrels.
Did I mention they are very nice, heavy and made of oak? Please don't ask me to ship cause they are HEAVY. So I'm looking for a quilter in the Austin area that might be interested.
FREE too!
Here's the website of the guy who makes them.

Thanks,
Clara

Hi Clara -
You probably already know this, but my understanding is that the other thing you need to watch out for with kitties is needles. They seem to like to play with them and swallow them. I keep mine in closed plastic tubs when not in use, just in case. Hope your kitty gets better soon!

My other cat likes to do that very thing. I too keep them in plastic tubs too. She just seeks them out when I'm working with them. Very annoying! At least she has stopped climbing up my back after the binding strip while I was sewing it on. Ouchie!!!Originally posted by rehakHi Clara -

Anne, your sister has the barrels. The transfer is complete. Her poor little car is filled with these things. Enjoy. ClaraOriginally posted by LadywingnutI would be very interested in them...I live in Arizona, but my sister lives in Austin...I can get them from her when I come visit later this summer, is that ok?
