Pins and Needles: How to Dispose safely

I've discovered my diabetes test strip bottles make good safe disposal containers. At least safe until they get to the garbage dump. Don't know after that when that stuff gets all churned up or whatever. At least no one at my house sticks themselves and none of the trash pick up guys have to worry about a pin! That feels good to me.

I crack a hole in the top of an empty prescription bottle, but have yet to fill it up

I use an old Tic Tac container.

I keep the tic tac containers for the small glass beads. A regular pill container works well for me, pop in the old pins and needles, place the lid back on and it waits patiently in the top thread drawer until I need it the next time.

          i keep a container about 6" long 3" wide.
put all the needles, and rotary knifes etc.
there is a lot of room in this container, it is transparent so every body can see what in it, and push their hands to it.
it is since i started to quilt 6 years ago.
there is a lot of room still.
i am sure after 10 years may be it will be full so i will do some thing with it, may be sell it or give it to the metal
          recycle man.

I use a metal Altoids tin (Altoids are hard candies or mints that, obviously, come in a tin) and put pins, needles and rotary blades in it. I've written "SHARP" in a black sharpie in several places on the tin in case anyone else gets ahold of it. When I go to my local guild meetings, I put the needles and rotary blades in the recycle box that is taken to the metal recycler. I'm not sure if the plastic or glass headed pins can be recycled so I've just kept them. If the tin ever gets full of non-recyclables, I'll wrap it in tape, put it in the trash and start a new one.

I use the metal container that pepper comes in. Fill my shakers, then take the empty up to my sewing room.just open the popup top and insert needles. Close and throw when full.

I use an empty medicine bottle with child safety cap, still plenty of room. Lotti, like your idea of using tic tac bottle for beads, thanks!
