It is refreshing to read that other people have made mistakes too. Another of my all-time favourites (not) is to try to do decorative stitches while my 1/4" foot is still attached. I have lost count of the numbers of needles I have broken. ops:
What was really funny was to see the faces of two of my sewing friend when they came one day and saw the note mounted. They had no idea why it was sitting there.
But it works.

Geneva and Ritzy, you can do it. Just take it one step at a time. I still have a white box around my name after 2 tries. I don't see it when I'm on my PC though. For now it doesn't bother me. And we're all getting new iPhones in the mail today. My DD has already informed me that our old account numbers will be needed before they can be activated as she has already tried to do so. At least I will have her to help me if I can't figure things out. As long as I can figure out how to make and receive phone calls that's all that matters. My existing phone doesn't work at our home in the country so the new phone will be nice to have.
Some of your quilting mistakes sound like mine. A couple years ago I was checking which machine I should take to a class that required some free motion quilting. I put the feed dogs down on the one I wanted to take but didn't have much success with it so I took a different one. Then I took the first machine to a day retreat the next day and spent 3 days paper piecing with the feed dogs down! I was wondering why the machine was noiser than usual and I was having a hard time staying on the lines. I didn't notice it until after I got home and started sewing on a different project.

I was quilting a piece for a friend that had a street scene. I thought I'd be really brillant and create a hanging basket suspended from a street lamp all in thread about 3 inches high. When I finished my little masterpiece I couldn't get the quilt loose from the machine bed. I took off the foot, the needle, the throat plate unsewing with my little seam ripper all the while to finally free the quilt. I discovered I had caught some of the backing folded twice underneath the stitchery!! It took what seemed like forever to pick out all those minute little stitches. I did manage to rescue the piece and complete the quilting--even recreating the stitchery. I had to do something to cover up the interfacing.

I learn things several times, like when the right sides go together, they really mean it. Or trimming two different blocks at the same time is not a time saver. But the last quilt I made, I completely blew the math. I have A's in math all the way up to Differential Eguations in college, and on this quilt I discovered I couldn't do geometry, algebra, multiplication...and I could not even count!

And don't try to use the good fabric scissors as a thread sniper... The thread does get cut, but you might just end up lying on the sofa with your finger stuck in the air for the next couple of hours, to try to stem the blood flow from that huge gap in your fingertip... And you certainly won't be oing any sewing during the next few days!
When winding the bobbin, try to keep your attention on the bobbin, and not end up with a quarter spool being wound all over your bobbin and half the sewing machine. If sewing a seam is suddenly much harder going, STOP and investigate, I've sewn parts of the backing, the other side of the quilt, my clothing and whatever else was in the area into my quilts. And if you get tired, have a break! I generally do all the stupid things when I want to 'do just that one other seam - it won't take a minute'. But fixing it will probably take an hour or longer!!!Lotti, Kuessnacht - Switzerland
