I've done a lot of this. Just can't seem to find time to write instructions for the patterns. Maybe someday.

Here is a great way to use both sides of a square to make HSTs: http://www.online-quilting.com/video...als/index.html

I made a quilt a couple of years ago using Shooting Star blocks, which are like snowball blocks except that you only do the two opposite corners and make the corner triangles bigger. I used the sew-and-flip method and used the half-square triangles from the "waste" to make a pinwheel border. It's the first quilt on my profile, called "Salad Shooter". I hope to write up a pattern some day.

Great quilt Nancy, and I love the fact of how you made the border from the off cuts, it works great.

Margo, This link is great. I got stuck there for a while. I have a Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt in que to quilt and the video on using a faced binding on hexies is great. Wow!

I know this block has been around for a long time but I was just trying to put in context of here at TQS. These blocks are very similar. .

I think Ricky said he learnt it from a quilter in UK when he showed us how to do it.
