Becky I am sorry to hear that you have carpal tunnel on top of your other health issues. I don't know if this will be of help but I found it helpful when I had tendonitis in my wrist. The man is a percussionist so would be well aware of repetitive strain injuries. Hope it helps.

I sympathize, having had this surgery, and shoulder surgery...however, I saw this quote on another forum the other day and had to laugh as you made me think about my recoveriesOriginally posted by beckyezradays are soooo long without quilting

I think that I have just found out a trick to help sew slow and steady 8) - a friend of DD got a sewing machine for Christmas, it is her birthday party next weekend, so I was checking out books about 'my first sewing machine for kids' and whilst browsing the look inside bit on amazon there was this 'Helper Star HInt'Originally posted by ladyquilterRosemary, you made me laugh at your comment: "(my hands were moving so slowly that I needed the machine to be running just above stalling speed)." I have felt the same way more times than I can count. Your comment made me remember a movie that I recently saw. A young man was (lovingly) reprimanding his Grandma (played by Dolly Parton) because she was driving so slowly and people that were walking on the side of the road were keeping up with her pretty good. He said (and I'm paraphrasing because I can't remember exactly) -- if you go any slower, we will be going back in time. I thought it was really funny.
Some machines have a half-speed control which can be helpful. If your machine does not have this control, but has a foot pedal that is hinged, try inserting a new soft sponge into the hinge to slow down the speed and give your stitcher more control.
This is definitely worth a try

Hope you heal soon Becky. Sending healthy thoughts your way
I'm still learning to not get frustrated for not been able to work/play for as long as I want/need in my projects. I'm learning to pace myself (neck and shoulder injury from 2000, that also causes trouble on my left arm and hand. Good thing I'm ambidextrous - was born lefty but was taught to use my right hand also) and be careful how long I do the same activity, or stay in the same position. Besides, my 4 and 7 year old little ones, keep me from working for too long on my projects
Thanks for sharing the video Rita
Those exercises will probably help prevent issues with the wrists.

Thank you Teresa, Rita and Lois! It does indeed fel good to have a finish so early on in the year. Don't think I have ever achieved that before. The Forum is such a good motivator and all you ladies such inspirations. I watched the new show this morning so now I have to think about how to quilt the next 2 cushions using a modern approach. Quilting is FUN
