Opportunity Quilt - where does your groups display?

Have been asked and accepted the challenge to lead our guild in displaying our opportunity quilt for next year. I must be insane. We have relatively few quilt shows in our area and need new/fresh ideas where the quilt might be shown. The local quilt shops graciously display but only bring in small amounts of ticket sales. It must be local as it is easier for our members to participate. Appreciate any ideas.

Well, we are in the far out suburbs of Los Angeles. Our guild displays at local quilt shows, plus Road to California (80 mile drive), Long Beach International Quilt Show, etc. We also go to guild meetings. A fair number of guild members have moved out of state and we market to them too. How close is your biggest nearby quilt show?

How about asking at your local bedroom furniture sales store - they will have plenty of beds to display it on
      Library's are another possibility.

This might be a long shot, but... why not talk with Pottery Barn at The Promenade Shops at Briargate in Colorado Springs and possibly offer in return a percentage of the proceeds to St. Jude's Hospital, which Pottery Barn supports in a big way, as does Williams Sonoma; or if that fails, talk to the Management Office at that shopping center to see if there is a shop that would be willing to sponsor the effort. Alternatively, there may be some indoor malls in your area as well, but I think The Promenade probably has really good traffic. I'm not from your area, so I don't know for sure but this may be a thread to pursue that goes beyond the LQS. Best of luck to you!

          How about the local library.

Our local group displays our raffle quilt at a local bank that helps support our quilt show. We also display at the county fair.

Thank you for some great ideas I hadn't thought of. I appreciate any that get my brain working in potential show venues.

Community buildings often have high wallls that just cry out to display quilts. We have a few locally that run drama and dance groups etc and have a cafe area for exhbitions, which change frequently.
In my corner of England, I'm lucky enough to have lots of quilt groups within driving distance, most of which will hold an exhibition of work every other year, usually in a church or hall but sometimes in an empty shop or a school hall. Lots of bright bunting and posters plus teas with homemade cake, raffles plus maybe a trader or two all help to pull the punters in.

Our group once set up in an in-door mall for a day. That worked well.
