"I Spy"
There are 25 gorgeous 'I Spy' quilts in the gallery, a lot of them quite complex. I'm delighted that I managed to finish a very simple one today for my little granddaughter. Several friends contributed squares, and I kept them big (6 inches cut), so that there really is plenty to see. It's back to school on Monday, but Eva can get her new quilt this weekend. I only managed to finish it because I gave it to a longarmer after I had done the fabric collecting and piecing. Getting the binding on was quite difficult. Everytime I got the quilt out, Guinness hopped on it made herself comfortable and refused to move. Well, if Guinness likes it, I'm sure Eva will. It has all her favourite things on it: crocodiles, owls, bees, bananas........

That is a really sew beautiful quilt Lorchen! I wish my kids had a grandma like you. None of them quilt. My mom is not a "crafty" person at all. My MIL wonders "why cut fabric in little pieces to sew it back together?" and my step MIL does cross stitch but no sewing either. Man! Out of three, none    I'm the first and only "quilter wanna be" on both sides of the family

Thanks a lot for all the compliments!
Limbania, Norma is right. You'll make up for the generation before you. My mother and ex-MIL didn't understand why I felt the need to play with fabric either. They kept telling me that I should concentrate on keeping the house and my sons spotless. You just can't win them all. From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

Lovely quilt, Lorchen!! Eva will love it!! And probably won't mind sharing it with Guinness, either
Limbania, my mother doesn't sew and neither did my grandmothers. My MIL made a couple of small quilts -- mostly for our dog to lay on -- which I now treasure, but I hadn't become a quilter before she died. I know what you mean about feeling like you missed something, but it's good to be the start of something, too. Having quilter friends helps!

What a wonderful "I Spy" quilt for Eva! Lorchen, you really know how to make wonderful quilts and memories! Limbania, Lorchen is so right that you cannot win them all. But you are doing what you love and it shows through your work that it truly comes from the heart--you will make lots of people happy along the way, including your children, and one day, your grandchildren!
