I like that a lot! Thanks, Lorchen! Now I have to watch out for a place to use it.

Karen Sievert tries to find ways to put a new spin on existing ideas and did so brilliantly with the prairie points. She lives around here and I met her when she gave a demo (same as what you've seen on YouTube) along with a trunk show at a local fabric store (that also has a quilting section). You should see her free motion quilting--just beautiful, leaves you with your mouth gaping open... The quilt in the background of the YouTube demo was accepted last year for the On the Road to California quilt show. She had just found out before our demo and was supposed to pack it up and mail it that weekend but she still brought it in to show us. We were very careful not to touch...

Have seen many many ways to do PPoints, but that one looks the easiest! Thanks Lorchen, and am eagerly waiting for your retirement and trip to Houston!

Fantastic, thanks for showing us. I think these are going into my friend claudia's quilt. For some reason I don't think it will be finished by Christmas if I keep getting sidetracked with all these extra ideas... Or maybe I'll just make pillows for my nieces?

Karen Sievert's A Truly Feathered Star just won first place in the traditional category at the 2012 World Quilt Competition. I saw it at the Philadelphia show last week. The stars are truly feathered because of the prairie points. It was gorgeous! You can see it close up on her website http://www.theniftyneedle.com/images...s/IMG_0338.JPG as well as the Pennsylvania Quilt Extravaganza (Mancuso) website http://www.quiltfest.com/activities_detail.asp?id=124
