Oh my goodness! Did she ever get any time actually in the water?! Everybody was probably ready to go home by the time she was going in. Getting a wet swimsuit on and off is bad enough but a wet girdle too! That is a workout all by itself.

Karen you are so right! She had one of those towels that is like a tube with a hole for the head and it all went on inside there - or most of it ... until the dreaded moment when she would ask one of us to tie the back of the boned jobbie - I tried to always be splashing about in the sea far far away at that point. Well it's was the least I could do for my DH, it was his mother after all.

You really went above and beyond the call of duty. I can't stop thinking of her wriggling in her tube. LOL

Man, I can't believe what my one little comment about support hose could ferment. We don't need to get a life, we really do have a great one , right here on the forum!

My mother called them elastic stockings.

Liked the reference to gardening, though

I went to the Houston Quilt Festival 2004, and enjoyed Ricky Tims' Quilt Seminar, a two day class from November 4-5! I had tried his techniques and showed them to a friend or two. I was staying in a local hotel about a block from the event, and really enjoyed it. I didn't have a car, just flew from the west coast to Houston, and got a shuttle to the hotel, and walked to the event each day. I was 8 years ago, and now, I plan to possibly go back to visit it again.

I agree, it is a huge show. Now, I would take classes, shop, and shop more! I would rent a car and drive around also, since it is a fun thing to do. My childhood friend offered to allow me to stay with her, so I might do that instead of the hotel, and save money, which could be for shopping or classes!

Margo - the TQS Dinner on Thursday night -- Did anyone volunteer to coordinate yet? If not, I will do it!
I work in downtown Houston, so I should be able to find something good!

Understand that Wanda cannot coordinate this year, but really hope she can still join us!

Joining in saying thanks to Lena. I am so glad that there will be a TQS get together Thursday. This is my first time and I wouldn't know where to begin to get it organized. Count me in! I am so very eager to meet everyone! I sent Margo a PM about a week ago and she hadn't heard anything so I don't believe anyone else is orgainizing a dinner. She said, "just keep checking the Forum" and here you are volunteering! Thanks so much.

I will put a new topic under the Quilt Shows and Retreats area so I can start getting names and a headcount for those who plan to attend.
Will be really glad to see everyone again this year!

Lena, Thank you!!!! I live too far away to be too much help, and I'll only be getting there Wednesday afternoon, but if there is anything I can do to help you—keeping track of lists, or whatever—I'll be happy to do so! Let me know! Robin
