Lois, I think she's changed into a superhero and is probably busy saving the planet - or Clark Kent.

            Lorchen, love you quilt!

My DIL is a personal trainer. If you were in a guild, would you be interested in having someone like her come and give you tips etc on how to stay in shape as a quilter. I mean, I think many get wrist problems(carpel tunnel), arthritis, fat butts and hunched backs. I've seen list of 'exercises of quilters". Would that interest you? Maybe make it into a line dance themed workout?

Terri, I think the line dance sounds hilarious(sp?) and fun. I'm sure none of us get enough exercise. Just imagine all of us TQSers at the opening of the Paducah show, doing an exercise line dance while we parade in. I guess it would have to be to marching band music, if the band is there next year. That should make the news!!

I would love to go to a quilt meeting and find somebody there who'd advice us on how to sit, bend, whatever......, what the ideal height for a cutting table is, how to avoid neck or back pain, a simple exercise routine that can be done at or next to the sewing machine. Unfortunately your DIL is a little too far away.

Seriously, since we can't all get together for an exercise class, maybe we could get Alex and Ricky to have one on the show. Just one episode. They could give us some warm up stretches to do before starting our sewing or quilting. How often to take a break and do alittle exercise. Etc. I know I come away with back and shoulder pain alot of the time. If we knew the proper things to do it might help us all. I think a personal trainer or a physical therapist would be a great guest. What does everyone else think?

Recently someone posted a link to a good video on just this subject here on the forum. Maybe they'll see this before I can find it again.

Here is what I was referring to. Betty Jo posted this and it has the type of info you're talking about with a trainer or Dr.

Thanks, Karen, it's a great video. I had recently begun to go to a massage therapist about once a month due to very sore neck, headaches and tension in my upper back. The massages have helped a lot, but with this information to self-help, I think I won't have to go so often. I enjoy it, but my insurance doesn't pay the whole price tag.
