Can anyone recomend a sewing machine foot similar to the foot that Carol Ann Waugh uses in her Stupendous Stitching, namely to go over the rats tail piping that she uses.
I have a Janome 6600 so it would have to be compatable, also to buy in the UK.
The piping feet I have seen on line don't seem to have room for the zigzag HELP!!

It is a bit of a wait, but I would recommend waiting until one of the big shows (FoQ perhaps?) and then go and talk to the people on the Janome machine stand to see what they suggest, you could even take your own rats tails with you (or buy some there  ) Otherwise,do you have a local dealer you could talk to? I'm sure they would love to sell you something, again take samples with you to see if it fits the bill.

I believe she used a foot from Creative Feet. A foot like the ones in this link would snap on to my Janome. I plan to get one. Just haven't done it yet. Lois

There'll be a dealer at FOQ, I'll help you choose. When I did my pieces I used a normal zig zag foot without any problems just had to guide the cord, whereas Carol just moves the fabric around if you have a foot with a channel in it. I'll be looking for one for my pfaff.

The Creative Feet fits all machines. They come with different shanks. If you have a Bernina you might need a special shank for that. See http://www.creativefeet.com
They tell you about it all.
I ordered a set from UK. Barnyarns are their dealer over here. I can tell more about them when I get them. Carol uses these feet all the time and prefer them from the ones coming with the machine.

Thanks everyone,
I've e.mailed Barnyarns to find out if they will have the Creative Feet on their stand at FOQ and will have a good look round at all the sewing feet.
Wendy, only 4weeks Thursday and I will be at the FOQ, looking forward to meeting up with you.I will also be there on the Friday

Rita, I love your bag.
I signed up for Carol's online class on http://www.craftsy.com I thoroughly enjoyed it. BTW it is cheaper if you use the link on Carol's website http://www.carolannwaugh.com
I am now going to order her book :-)
Noorma, thank you, I didn't know that Brnyarns carrying the creative feet. That will save me international shipping :-)

Good to hear. I did not know that Carol had a link to that class.
At Barnyarns they worked quick this time. I received the feet yesterday and the little I have tried them, I can say they work. They fit on my Janome MC 9700 without changing the shank. On my old Pfaff Creative 7573) I have to use a shank that comes with the feet. And on my Bernina 440 I need a special shank. I wrote an email to Barnyarns to hear if they carry it, but have not heard back from them. If they don't have it I will get it from USA. A friend of mine offered me the opportunity to use an address of his niece to get things and then he will bring them back to me. I will order one then.
The couching foot that Carol uses can be used to sew on zippers. I tried it yesterday and it was a job where I normally would use my Pfaff because the other machines don't have the upper fabric transportation system. This job was tricky. The zipper should sit in a curve and the fabric was cut on the bias. I used the Janome to try the foot and it worked out really well. The zipper fits in the groove and everything was held in place.

For putting a zipper onto a bias cut edge, I would use a strip of iron on interfacing on the wrong side to stableize it first - but that is me, starching might work as well, but iron on is quicker
