training husbands, mine was just in the living room and there was a red blanket on the chair she wanted. She stood in front of the chair, looked back and forth from the chair to my husband a few times. He got the message, moved it and she quickly jumped into the chair and went to sleep. Too funny.Originally posted by theothermarionCongratulations on becoming Chief of Staff for a cat! (Dogs have owners, cats have a staff.) Mine has trained my husband to sit on the couch first thing in the morning and scratch her tummy. She approves of my quits and, for the latest, the fabric choices: they match her. She also nevers fails to get cat hair on a quit going to the local show. From the edge of Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood

This happened with my dog and my sister. We were moving abroad and my sister volunteered to take care of Oskhar (I know the spelling) we wanted something different. Full name Oskhar Coda Belau ( a golden retriever). two years later, we just gave her custody. We couldn't take him away after all that time and bonding. We had visitation rites whenever we wanted. So be prepared for a possible permanent pet.Originally posted by LorchenBecky, Guinness isn't actually mine. She belongs to my son and daughter-in-law. They asked me to give her a home for 'a couple of months' whilst they sort out their move from London to somewhere up North. Things are progressing, but slowly (long story). Now it looks like Guinness will still be with me till sometime next year. She made herself comfortable on my quilts in March 2011. She is the first ever pet that I have looked after (my two sons don't count).

Hi all,
We have survived our first month with Pete. I finally introduced him to the sewing room. He really wanted to be up on the cutting table--it's on risers and is right in front of the window--but he stayed in the chair to impress me. As you can see, he is a bit big to be a lap cat, but he doesn't know that!
Happy quilting,

Your dog is not much a lap dog as an 'overlap' dog, al least that is how we used to describe our lad, who was about that size.Originally posted by rehakPete is gorgeous! My 70 lb dog doesn't realize he's too big to be a lap dog, so I know how you feel. My boy cat also knows he's not supposed to jump on the sewing table, but he likes to try it once or twice whenever I'm sewing just to make sure the rules haven't changed.

Pete is gorgeous! What a very laid-back looking cat, he is obviously feeling very much at home.
Wendy my cat loves the ironing board too - mine is only used for quilting fabrics - I think it's because of the heat of the iron and that the board itself will have warmed up after an ironing session.
My son got an unusual musical instrument for his birthday the other day - a Hulusi - and the minute he took it out of the case the cat jumped in! She doesn't even fit into it.

Your kitty looks perfect in the case! Wow, your son received a hulusi for his birthday! It is such a beautiful instrument, producing such a clear, silken sound--the name of this instrument means "silk gourd" and originated among the Dai hilltribes around Xishuangbanna in southern Yunnan province of China, an area which is considered the crossroads between China and Southeast Asia since ancient times. Happy birthday and I hope you enjoy this beautiful gift!

Thanks Renata. Yes he has a fascination with all things Asian. He is actually able to play the Hulusi quite well and it does have a beautiful sound. He has found this one easier than the Xiao which he got for Christmas. We are on to birthday number 3 today - Ailsha is 18 years old now!
