storage cases to take to classes

What type of storage cases for notions do you like to use to take to classes? I've been using a plastic covered box and just throw everything in it. There has to be a better way. Would appreciate Canadian sources for purchasing. many thanks,

Jacquie, how do you travel to classes? That'll make a big difference to what you take and how. I admired the solution of a fellow-quilter a couple of weeks ago - perfect for the car, but unsuitable for train or plane. She had bought a standard size plastic bucket from a hardware store and constructed a quilted fabric lining and outside cover for it. It had pockets all along the inside, and pockets all along the outside. She said that she has had her 'Quilt Bucket' for years, and now an then just takes the cover off and throws it in the washing machine.

The other easy to move storage I see a lot are plastic boxes with handles that are made for anglers to take all their bit and pieces with them, or any size tool boxes.

I have also seen someone with a rather large and simple-looking tote bag, but it had two long zips down the sides and opened up flat. On the inside were lots of drawstring bags in different sizes, all attached to the bag with strips of velcro. The tote (when the bags were removed) also doubled up as a cushion.

Also what about the old fashioned sewing box if that would be the right size

I use the two tier notions box and companion thread boxes available on the Koala furniture website. I use two notions boxes, labelled for hand sewing and one for machine sewing.

I hadn't thought about this for traveling, but my favorite notions-holder at home is a round Longaberger basket I picked up at a tag sale, with a plastic divider insert dividing the basket into 1/3's. I can see that a larger bucket/basket with more dividers/pockets would be very useful....hmmm....yet another project for the future! Nancy
