Design Wall - White, Beige, Grey?

    Design Wall - White, Beige, Grey?

    Mine is white, but I've been reading about beige, grey, even black. So, does anyone have some good reasoning for choosing the color of their design wall?

    I find white too bright and use beige. I would find a large area of empty, white space quite intimidating.

      I'm totally non-conventional and use a light sage green. My design wall is very large and many times only a relatively small section is covered with quilt blocks or pieces. I simply don't care for white or eggshell or similar color walls in my house, I crave deep or rich colors. Sage green is the closest I can get to a neutral and not mind looking at it day in and day out. I figure that I don't view my quilts on a white or similar background when the are completed and in my home so I don't think I really need to have an absolute neutral on my design wall either. The color sort of lets me see what the quilt will look like in it's permanent environment I suppose. So I guess my reasoning is to choose a color that will make me happy when I look at it!

        I just bought one of Cheryl Ann's design walls and I got it in grey. With all the handling and touching, I just figured it would be easier to take care of than the white. Besides, I think white is so stark.

          My hubby made me one from two foam boards (with a lot of duct tape) so I can fold it up. Found a deep rich red flannel on sale and got enough to cover it with that. So far it works great. I can see everything so well.

            Mine's a pale yellowish flannel with multicolor pastel polka-dots!

              Well, yellow with polka dots might influence my design choices LOL, but I'm thinking more than ever that white is distracting in its own way. So thanks everyone for your input.
