DO not forget to mention POD-CASTING .... I know since TQS got you so busy that you no longer podcast but there is an active group of amateur pod casters out here in the INTERNET that faithfully podcast. We do it to talk about our favorite activity and also to give ourselves a VOICE. I think you would be amazed at some of the quality productions some of us have come up with... a lot of fun.

A tremendous amount of my time is taken up by working full time plus the commute time it takes to get back and forth. I would love to attend guild meetings but family demands don't allow the time at the time the guilds are having their meetings. One of the best things about the internet access is that it is available 24/7 so I can watch the programs when it is convenient to me. I can investigate techniques and processes that I may not be able to otherwise - particularly when they are available through a free you tube video or an artist's website at no cost.
I find that through the world wide web that I have access to many quilt artists that I otherwise would never know anything about.
Thanks for starting "The Quilt Show" and bringing to us all the wonderful quilt and fabric artists.

I am at a time in my life when I have more of my time to spend as I please. I have always enjoyed sewing and have made clothes, blankets, quilts, outerwear(winter outerwear for Saskatchewan, Canada (-40). The information on the web is nonstop. That being said, this is one of my favorite sites to check. It is so easy if I have a question or a problem to find an answer. Information at my fingertips is wonderful.
A question. If I would like a pattern, a skill, or some knowledge from a book that is 'out of print' I sometimes feel that I am missing out on learning something or making something. I do try to respect 'copyright'. However, I also want to learn. Quite a conflict.
Alex, I love your site. My favorite is your basket block. Please do more.

I can tell you about one online advantage; this site!! I went to Houston for Festival for the first time and instead of feeling like I was meeting people for the first time, I greeted old friends. I don't think I'll ever feel the same again.
There are many sites to find out information, but very few that are true communities.

every thing that internet is good for -- is good for quilt world.
i am sick at home, some times that is the only connection to the world, and to the world of quilting - tutorials, inspiration, ideas, etc.
buying fabric and notions that didnt arrive yet to here, same token arrive directly home.
meeting! new quilters from other places in the world (in my case i am from the netherlands, a quilter from canada via your forum asked me if i want to meet her while her visit here - it created very nice friendship).
new techniques, solving problems (quilting problems)
getting idea about the existing quilt magazines (from all over the world) ..and subscribe to them.
little bit of taste of visiting beautiful quilt shows.
the most important is the authenticity due to the fact it is all in real time and not months after the event.

Like Kathy, this gives me the opportunity to learn and quilt, that may not be open otherwise. As I work full time, and am a single parent of two special needs boys... there is not a lot of time for me, during normal "shop" or "class" open hours. The internet means I can watch a video, u-tube or take a class whenever I have some time available. I can stop it half way, if the taxi driver is needed! Like now....Originally posted by CarolinaGirlA tremendous amount of my time is taken up by working full time plus the commute time it takes to get back and forth. I love the variety the internet provides in classes, fabrics, and inspiration. I have always found it difficult to stay inspired in craft... the internet makes this much easier.
