    2010 UGH Club

Welcome! Welcome! The 2010 session of the UGH Club is now is session!

What is the UGH Club you ask? Well, it's club that was started a couple of years ago to act as a support group for those of us who are...

    Unable to Go to Houston

Yes, that's right. While many of our wonderful quilting friends are fortunate enough to be at the fabulous show in Houston, we will just have to find a way to occupy our free time. You know -- to fight off the urge to cry and to save ourselves from those unsightly frown lines we may get from pouting too much.

There's no membership fee to pay and no form to sign. If you're not at the show -- you're in. And once again, I'm in. This will officially be my third year heading up our little group. But not to worry! I have a plan! Last year we played words games in the forum to keep our minds off of where we weren't. This year I thought we'd try something a little different....

How about a photo scavenger hunt? Each day -- in the forum -- I will post five things for you to find and take a picture of (most are quilt-related -- some are not). These are supposed to be "your" things so please refrain from "Googling". When you have your pictures of what you want to share, just upload your photos in the forum for all to see! There's no prizes involved -- just the fun of seeing everyone else's "stuff." Feel free to participate when you can! If you only want to post one or two items -- that's fine. Whatever you want! And yes -- all of you in Houston are certainly welcome to participate as well. We still love you!

What's that? Some of you don't quite know how to do the whole "upload a photo" thing? Well I have put together a quick tutorial for those who may need a little guidance in one of my blogs. Click here community/my-profile/Bridget473 to visit it (and be sure to scroll down a bit).

Please feel free to use this forum thread to "practice" your photo posting if needed. You know, before the "games" begin tomorrow!

Thanks Bridget! As you can see I am going to give it a whirl! Guess now I'll need to go back and read your instructions for posting pictures here.

OK! Day 1 is underway! Here are the first five items to find/share for the photo scavenger hunt!

(I'll be posting my photos later after the kids are in school!)

                1. A thimble
                2. Fabric depicting fall leaves
                3. A UFO (UnFinished Object)
                4. A furry friend
                5. Something 100 years old (or more)

Good luck! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

                  Scavenger Hunt Items:
                  1. My Olympic 1996 Thimble Collection, bought when I was at these Olympics in Atlanta.
                  2. Three fall leaf fat quarters.
                  3. My second Christmas Traditions quilt, obviously not yet finished.
                  4. and 5. My furry friend, Gray Soufflé standing in front of a very old oak tree (circumference at base over 10 1/2 feet and a very old rock. Ifigure they have to be at least 100 years old! I guess I'll have to put this in a second message, because it seems the number of attachments is limited to 3.

Here are my entries for today's game:
                      1. Thimble
                      2. Leaves - not really fall, but leaves were elusive today.
                      3. Is about 60 blocks for my Farmers Wife Sampler.

The last two are in the next post.

The 4th and 5th entry for today:

                        4. Furry friends as The Kei (Keiha) doesn't like to be outdone by the kitties.

                        5. 100 year old item was on our bookshelf - I cannot read it as it is in German,
but it is a bible from 1891.

                        Thanks for the fun game...
