    Felting

I was under the impession that needle felting could be done with any sewing machine assuming one had a felting needle. (I'm aware there are felting machines, but know there are also felting needles for sewing machines.) A
limited on-line search leaves me with the impession that only certain models of some machines are compatible with the felting needles. I'm using a Pfaff 7570 and don't seem to find a needle for that machine. Does anyone
know if it's possible to felt on my machine? :?

For possibly the fastest response, I'd call a Pfaff dealer & ask them. I think Pfaff sells a needle felting machine, but don't know whether or not they have an attachment to fit your machine.

I don't beleive that the Pfaff machines have a felting attachment to turn the sewing machine into a felting machine. But then it has been awhile since I have looked at anything for my Pfaff.

In Vikki Pignatelli's class at the Minnesota Quilt Show, she talked about felting which she does a lot of. She said she bought an inexpensive felting machine because the felting process leaves a lot of lint and threads in the machine and she did not want to "gunk" up her Bernina. I don't have a Bernina but still think a felting machine (Vikki said hers was about $100) would be a good value if it saved having to have your machine serviced more often. Just something to think about if you plan to do a lot of felting. Ann

Thanks Ann! It was Vikki's class that turned me on to felting, but I must have misunderstood a class comment and thought she was using her Pfaff. As my service man charges $100 to clean and service my machine, I'll be money ahead to
          purchase an inexpensive felting machine.

Before felting by machine became popular, I had bought an attachment for my Brother 1500 which cost $200. There were no felting machines on the market until later or I would probably have looked into that instead. It would have been a lot easier than putting the attachment on and taking it off. Fi
