    ANY 2010 Quilt Related Resolutions

Besides finishing some UFO, and cleaning / reorganize my quilting area..... I am planning to break out of my box....

My quilting group has lost their focus and gotten into a rut.. They mostly like older- traditional- style, reproduction style of quilting.

My promise to myself to break out of MY BOX and try new and different more contemporary style of quilting... techniques... patterns.... styling and projects. My first one being a TIMM's style of Kaleidoscope wall hanging.

WHAT do you resolve for this years 2010 quilting resolution.... do you think you will actually do it?

I'm going to do a lot more hand work. I work all day on a longarm so I like to relax in the evenings with some work in my lap.

I am going to quilt several of my tops and I am not going to use any monofilament thread. I'm going to figure out what I like and how to do it even across the big, high contrast prints I love.

I am rejoining my local Quilt Guild
Quilt one for entry into some show, somewhere -This is a biggie for me
Finish the 3 remaining UFO's that are lurking in my sewing room
Do a different style of journal quilt instead of fused applique
Make a quilt using my hand dyes instead of just petting them
        Dye some fabric myself

I would like to say I'm going to complete each project before starting the next but I've already spent time on several different projects this month.

          I'm going to stay organized.

I'm going to finish some of my works in progress before starting a new project.

            Organized and labeled sewing area.
Reduce stash (actually cut into it and use it up!)
            Better time management.

I am absolutely going to get the nerve to cut into some of this gorgeous Ricky Tims fabric! I have accumulated dozens of yards during the past few years. This is the year to stop ogling it and use it! I have promised this to myself and, boy, do I have plans!

JoAnne, if you have some of Rickys multicoloured fabric and haven't made one yet, be sure to make a convergence quilt, they are such fun, and its always a surprise as to what it will finally look like. A very pleasant surprise too. They are quite quick to do too. Have fun. :-) Pam

It is hard to cut into this but as Ricky says it is only fabric and there will be some more there the next day or when ever. I am starting the 2010 BOM Hugs and Kisses with Ricky's hand dyes. I love the blues and the greens and have them in my stash. I may have to add some purples because I am doing the BOM for table runners for my family and I have a few "purple lovers" in my family but for now it is blue and green. I used Ricky's hand dyes almost exclusively in my Rhapsody and I love it.

Make the break. Cut it up. Use it. It is still only fabric no matter where you got it. Ricky wouldn't want it sitting on the shelf. (Well maybe that is okay if you keep buying but he wants you to use it)

Make the break, Make the first cut, It is easy after that (sort of- I am still a closet Ricky fabric stasher!!!! LOL) Ann

Pam, I've made a couple convergence quilts but not with Ricky's fabrics.

Ann, I've got several ideas in mind, I just have to make that first cut! I sure do enjoy looking at Ricky's fabric, right here in my sewing room. That stuff is gorgeous!

Hey, what I ask myself is.......do I want to reach the end of my life and regret that I didn't use up my favorite fabrics because I'm afraid to cut into them. I don't want to leave shelves of fabric behind that one else would most likely appreciate. I'd rather leave behind quilts that others may appreciate and pass on. Such thoughts inspire me to be brave and move forward!! LOL

Anna, resolutions don't work for me. I just know that I won't be able to stick to anything like that. All I know is that I have an early May deadline for a baby quilt. And that's it.

I am quite determined though to finish some of the countless started projects that I have hanging about.
