I would love to see a group on fabric painting. I did a project with Paint sticks and stencils. You can also use rubbing plates.
Thread painting would be interesting. Or wool applique. I'm doing a wool flower baltimore album type BOM now using overdyed wool, using the buttonhole stitch.
Just something different and for all levels of experience. Nothing so overwhelming that people wouldn't finish it or be able to keep up.

All the ideas sound good. I think the TQS family, all have knowledge and tips to share.
Would there be only one mini group at a time, or would there be more than one?
I was wondering if Justin would be willing to lead a mini group on dying. I have played with it a little bit, definitely could use some guidance.
I like the idea of everyone within the group working on a single project. That way it would be easier to explain the trials and tribulations (and hopefully successes) that we are experiencing.

Is anyone interested in taking the lead on creating a mini-group for applique (or anything else)? I'd really be interested in joining. Since I'm working on doing the dyeing stuff (and hopefully from there some other surface design techniques after) I would love to be a 'follower' for any other groups.

What about journal quilts or very mini quilts of a stated size ....maybe about daily musings or the seasons or vacations enjoyed or...you get the idea. Something quick, creative, shared easily and fun. Just need a place to start...right?

I've been away from the site for awhile and boy have I been away too long!! My head is swirling with all of the ideas on this subject alone. There are so many ideas and they all sound so interesting. I want to be a part of it all but I know I will never be able to do it at once. Has anything been started yet? I need one more project, (like a hole in the head as we say here in TX) lol

KakeM I like your idea. Why don't we, you and I, start one and do a mini vacation quilt. I've never been involved in a mini group nor done a mini quilt so this would be very exciting to me. Plus it would make me do my first design it all from scratch quilt. Oh, now I'm getting nervous.

Okay Bobbi...How should we start...size? I think maybe an 8 x 10 would be just a good size....any limits on fabric or embellishments or just go for it? What about time limit? Are we going to show them on show and tell site or some where else....anyone else want to join in....we can all just go for it together...right? Vacations is a good subject....good ones or bad ones? personal choice? brain storm time!!!

This sounds challenging. Would love to join in. Will everyone work on the same pattern or designing own? Is there a time limit? Jan

Never doing this before so this is making me go out on a limb (sure hope it is a strong one  ) I think a 8X10 is a good size, that way it won't take folks (meaning me) forever to get it done. Any design you want with what ever embellishments sounds perfect to me. Let's use this to help folks, again meaning me, to get creative. Timeframe - that's a good question. Is saying have the project done by the end of September too short of a period if we start now? Basically looking at having 2 months to do this. Need help here. Posting pictures on Show & Tell sounds like a good place. Anyone - any other ideas, suggestions?
So far the ideas are: Size - 8X10 quilt; Theme - vacation; Embellishments - any you want; Time Frame - ???? end of September? Posting of finished project - Show & Tell
So KakeM and others what do you think? These are all just suggestions and nothing is set in stone so come on give us yours.

Theresa...come on in and brainstorm with Bobbi and I about this journal/mini quilt thing. Janblock...you also. What about time frame? Maybe once a month...that's not too often for most of us is it? Especially if we keep the size of the quilts down. I like 8 x 10 myself. I was wondering about where they would be shown...Show & tell???
If it truly is going to be a journal quilt then I suppose we have to include a kind of journal note with each piece as to how we came up with the idea for the quilt and any information we want to share about our process or even frame of mind at the time of "creation"...does that sound right to anyone? Remember we may all be newbies to this kind of group, but that shouldn't stop us from forging ahead...what do you all think? Just how creative do we want to be?? Alex mentioned the Chat area being unused...maybe we should start a chat about this and brainstorm there?
