    The problem with TQS

Hello! Did I get everyone's attention??! The problem with TQS as I see it is I could sit all day at this computer and never get any quilting done! This was the only way I could think to tell you all how wonderful you are. Alex and Ricky, John and Justin, you are the best. The daily blog is great, as is the forum, and quilt gallery, the shoppe, challenges and of course the shows! And you not only bring us everything possible in the quilting world, but you bring us interesting things from the whole world! Buildings, travel pictures, singers, jump rope girls, Gettysburg, and I'd be here into next week just listing all the news stories you give us. And you all are much much better than any evening news program, where all they give you is bad news! I am so thankful for the super seminar in Escondido a few years back and found out about this new site you were putting together. Thank you all for the super great job you do and for bringing quilters together.
Now I think I will go put all this knowledge to good use and go make another quilt, if I can tear myself away from the computer!
    Thank you!

Joan -- I couldn't agree more. I seem to live at my computer. However, I have really enjoyed the friendships, advice, prayers, etc. that have come as a result of TQS. I will be attending the SS in Seattle in August and hope to meet some TQS'ers there.

Well, TQS is often responsible for me going to bed too late. Ah well, you only live once!

I went through a period last spring/summer where I was spending soooo much time at the computer with TQS that I wasn't getting any quilting done! How ironic can you get? I tried to really limit my time on the site and just watch the videos and new shows but I decided I missed the interaction with all of you great people out there too much. I am still probably spending too much time at the computer but I'm also getting a lot of quilting done so maybe I have found the right balance.

Being able to meet up with my TQS friends in Paducah last month was the best! I think that A + R + J + J and all of the sponsors and staff deserve a lot of credit for the hard work and creativity that have gone into this site so far.

I'm supposed to be working here!! It's hard to do because there's so much on this site to see.
I tried taking some time off from TQS; I went into withdrawal
So...they say life is short, eat dessert first. This is my dessert!

Well, perfect topic for me-- I've been AWOL from the forum for probably a month, b/c I can see a deadline in my future (June 12) for TWO HS graduation quilts, and I've GOT to get them done, not to mention I've already finished one for SIL's Med-school graduation. So, trying to stay at the machine, not the computer, PLUS a non-cooperative camera has held me back. I HAVE however caught up on all the shows I'd missed, b/c I can watch while I sew. I often sneak on here at work but even that's been crazy lately (um, newspapers, remember? say a prayer!) so I haven't had the opportunities I'd like to drop in & say hi. Just know you've not left my head or heart, just fingertips...
I promise I'll get a pic of the finished one up soon, and the tops are nearly complete for the next 2...

Hells bells!!! I've been struggling with the same problem -- it's either computer time or sewing time. I still haven't figured out how to strike the right balance, and I'm retired. I just love the shows and all the wonderful things I can learn here, but it takes time from my quilting. I'm so far behind watching shows, I'm starting to feel I'm really missing out on all the benefits of TQS. Lucky us to have such problems!

I have had to start making TQS my reward--first you do what you have to do (or want to accomplish for the day) then you get to take a break and play on TQS.

I'm aching and my shoulders are burning I bet you can guess what I was doing all day! yelp Quilting! I feel it in my hands to. I guess I've been away from my quilting therapy to long I've been playing around with different crafts for two months. I'm usually on here in the evenings and some times I check in during the afternoons.
I have learnt alot through TQS and friends. I appreciate all the hard work that goes into it all.
                  Thank You Everyone!

Kathy, your chair must be at the wrong height. You shouldn't be in pain. I was told you're supposed to be above your sewing surface so that your neck is at a more natural angle.
Also, I try this a few times an hour: sit up straight; nod your head "Yes" 3 times, shake your head "No" 3 times and shrug your shoulders "I don't know" 3 times. Just remember- Yes, No, I don't know. That should help some of the stiffness.
                    Hope this helps,

Thank You! I get up to stretch but not often enough, I learnt I was shrugging my shoulders alot yesterday! Pete and friend Ray built me a stand but I think I need just alittle more heigth.
When I first started with this new stand they built me I could feel a big difference now I back to hurting again and shrugging again at the shoulders. It Burned but it abit better today- alittle hot tub time and a great message!
I quilted half of a king size quilt yesterday and its a heavy one.
A quilt I though would take me a month to quilt because there are so many small pieces I'm quilting it all in the ditch first then I'll go back and add more quilting patterns.
I really enjoy the quilting process but I could do with out the Pain!
Have agreat week. Enjoy you new bundle of Joy!
