WHAT IS YOUR 2009 QUILTING RESOLUTION
MY 2009 QUILTING RESOLUTION ... is to finish as many UFOs as I can this year before starting a new project.
My second 2009 QUILTING RESOLUTION is to work out of my stash for any projects.... I do have a stash Eleanor would be envious of.
MY THIRD 2009 QUILTING RESOLUTION is to learn some new techniques this year and to master machine quilting on a domestic sewing machine. ... at least for small quilts.Tags: None

I want to use up more of my stash.
I want to donate some quilts to charity - project linus and quilts of valor.
I want to finish some UFO's.
I want to start a few projects that I have patterns or fabric collected for.
I want to help my guild remain fun and educational by helping with some activities.
I want to better organize my sewing spaces and how my quilts are stored.
I might take an all-day class on using a long-arm. I've used one, but don't do anything very complicated. I'd like to learn the more advanced stuff.

I stopped even thinking about New Year Resolutions years ago when I realized that life always interfered with my plans. But I'll make an exception for TQS:
Resolution 1: Use some of Ricky's hand-dyed fabric that I treated myself to at FoQ in Birmingham.
Resolution 2: Make sure that resolution 1 really happens!

I want to help my guild remain fun and educational by helping with some activities.
I am teaching RICKY's Flying Geese technique. ... and yes I mention being on line here at TQS. I think we have a few paying members who watch the shows. We have had hand quilting, applique.... the art of making half square and quarter square triangles, and patterns such as disappearing 9 patch, kaleidoscopes, Eleanor Burn's flying geese method plus many more.
I like this event because it is fun and sociable. ... I get to really talk to other quilt guild members.

2008's resolution was good for me. I summarized it as Just Don't Get Lazy. Last year I saw several UFOs, a stash that no longer inspired me, and clutter. I wanted to put some of my own ideas with already published patterns that I had, to carefully work on improving my machine quilting, and be careful with bindings. I found that this was a slow process and if I stick to it, I will never be able to crank out quilts like some. I did manage to whittle down the clutter and finish a few UFOs but overall have enjoyed my sewing more in 2008, so I will stick to the same thought for the coming year.
If I add anything to this it will be to focus on color (again) because I stink at this. Jinny Beyers show caused me to pull out my books on color and I now have Susan McKelvey's EQ5 Color Theory Book to use with my EQ6 program. Santa purchased that for me in December.

My new years quilting resolution - quit letting life get in the way!!! I thought once my kids were all in school I would have all this time to quilt, but alas that is just not so. Seems everywhere I turn I am being asked by someone to do something else ("you have time, your home all day....") to the point I have no time for myself. SO this year's resolution is to reclaim my quilting time by learning to say "No, I'm busy working on a quilt today" and setting the time aside no matter what.

Mandy you are sooo right people think just because you are home you have no life.  They do not realize all we do. Especially if there is a sick reletive or a neighbor that has children that lives 80 miles away and doesn't realize their 90 year old mother can not drive and she might have a Dr. appointment or need groceries. People are oblivious to anything other then what is in front of them. My resolution, is simply to have a calm 2009. Smile more and cry less. Laugh at life instead of asking why ask why not. And when I can not find an open door or window to when things are dark either be the light or get out an ax and start wacking away to let the light in.   Pray hard and Dream BIG :!:

I know that I don't deal well with clutter, and I that I don't multi-task, so I narrow New Year's resolutions down to ONE that I can focus on. Last year it was to share my love of quilting. This year it is to get proficient with my new long-arm. Things like that don't just happen. You have to make a commitment.

Like many of you, I have two resolutions:
1. Use up some of my stash.
2. Finish some of my UFOs.
Last year a friend of mine decided she had to finish a UFO for every quilt she started. It worked! I tried it for a few months, too, and it felt great to finish some longstanding projects.
