Has anyone out there used Penny Haren's technique?

Read some great and some not-so-great reviews on Amazon.

Any one used her methods? What's unique about them?

I can't even remember now where I first heard about her, but sounded kind of interesting as it seemed to focus on ACCURATE piecing and I know that is the focus of the new Quilt Show Block of the Month next year with Sue Harman, too.

Evidentally we need alot of this kind of help! ha ha

I had to buy it BECAUSE.....the book was sooooo pretty. Aren't we awful!!! In my scanning the book I have so far figured out that she takes a base block (ie: four patch) and then appliques over the block to create more intricate blocks. Very interesting. I heard a rumour that she was coming to guild in my area next year.

This is a beautiful book! And the quilts are lovely, too.

Yes, she takes a square of fabric and appliques shapes/designs over the top with the finished piece duplicating a "pieced" block. I would compare her finished product to looking very much like a Dear Jane block - and her designs are able to be made into whatever size block you are desiring.

she uses freezer paper templates and .........well, heck, I probably shouldn't give all of her secrets away! ha

I think I will enjoy doing it this way. I might even get my Dear Jane finished! Many of her blocks are just like or very close to the original designs.
