    Setting Styles

I think the style of setting can either make or break a quilt's over all look....

Do you have favorite setting style?

What kind of setting styles have you used in the past ????? ...

What kind of setting styles do you plan to use in the future?

What is the favorite style of settings ???

Is there a style of setting you are dying to try but are afraid to try???? Why are you afraid of it??

My first quilt had no sashing, just sampler blocks put together. I now know sampler blocks look better if set off by sashing. They need the framing to make them stand out.

The second quilt I made I has different sizes of blocks put together. I use log cabin strips to get the blocks up to size. So I could match the blocks to put them together.

I have since taken several classes and learned how to:

Sash my blocks with a simple sashing in a vertical and horizontal setting.

I have put my blocks on diagonal using a zig zag lightening bolt settings

My next quilt I plan to use a HIP TO BE SQUARE setting pattern to obtain a secondary pattern on the quilt and off set/ highlight my blocks.

I also want to use the framed blocks in a floating setting technique I have been seeing at some of the quilt shows. I am a little afraid of this technique because it can be done realllllly well or look horrible... LIKE THE QUILTER HAS NO IDEA OF WHAT THEY ARE DOING. I have bought several books on the technique and I really want to try.
