Gosh so many to pray for and I have to add to the list. I can't even remember if I posted this on here the last 6 weeks have been such a whirlwind. I'm in NC with my sister who has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and has just completed the first 6 weeks of diagnosis, treatment, and now finally, we begin a rest period. She is at stage 3 a or b, depending on whose criteria is used. We will find out Nov 17 how effective this treatment has been and what steps are next.
I came immediately upon hearing as she lives alone and that's not a time to let your little sis be alone, is it? Since I'm an NP and my daughter is a toxicologist, we have accompanied her to all important, decision making conferences, and the Duke Medical Team has been excellent. We will, however, be asking lots more questions in the coming months! Have used this time to do our own research, discover a very few specialists in the country who we would consider a consultation with, and will be doing so during this 'rest' time. Since I live in Houston, MDAnderson of course will be among the list.
My word of caution to all of our quilters and their families is this: Kay has not felt well for over a year, with excessive fatigue, she thought depression, and general just thinking she was getting old (she's 65). When we age we might have a tendency to put off our slowing down to age.....it's not always AGE! Yes, PC is a difficult diagnosis and is almost always discovered late in the disease process. BUT.....NOT always is it age! If you are not feeling well, please get a checkup. She had abdominal bloating, fatigue, low platelets, an enlarged spleen, and finally abdominal tenderness,......all months ago, and it was not followed up by further diagnostics. She is not one to question her docs (like I would be since I'm a rabble rouser) and I'm afraid that has led to this difficult situation. I have found some excellent resources with much credibility and we will see if they might fit into this journey.
We will covet your prayers......... as we pray for your needs......Marilyn, and Mason of most recent memory...... and many in the past years. Love you quilter friends!
Lynn

While I am here I just want to put out a request for prayers for Renata, she will be going for cataract ops in the next week or two. She has not been sewing much this summer, but has been knitting socks like there is no tomorrow, I have been lucky enough to be the recipient of 2 pairs and they are beautiful and it is amazing to have socks that are the right length in the foot, and not over long, like shop bought ones!Geneva
