Nice corners!
My niece just called me--the recipient of the latest graduation quilt--and told the following story:
She and my sister are shopping for her college dorm stuff, they took the quilt along to try to match things up (should be easy, there are about 40 different pinks & reds in it!). Stopped for coffee, ran into some ladies from church, whom my sis knew were quilters, so they end up showing them the quilt, and report that these ladies were all ga-ga over itTurns out one of these ladies just won a second place of some sort at a recent BIG New Jersey show, and says I make "nice corners"...hmmm, wonder if that's ALL I do well? Of course in a situation like that you couldn't say "well she sure is sloppy!
ops:
Oh well, maybe these gals are lurkers here on the forum, and if so, I'll take any compliments I can get, so thanks!

"Nice compliment",they might have made this nice remark on your nice mitered corners because they have "troubles'getting nice mitered corners themselves,so this stood out the most for them. Checking Florences work out with fine tooth comb!LoL! I know you did a beautiful job on your neice quilt. The nice mitered corners are great! When Learning how to do bindings I always say; don't fret the small stuff you got three more corners to go!!! You get better with practice. I don't believe in perfecto it takes away from the enjoyment and learning which adds stress which is no fun. Gotta laugh and learn from those tiny mistakes in binding/quilting. I've never made a quilt that I didn't wish I had of done something different, it could be the quilting pattern, thread choice, color choice ect...though I'm always happy with my quilts even if there not perfect,I'm truely happy with my workmenship over all, lets face it we all are or we wouldn't be doing this. It's an never ending learning process. I'm a traditional quilter who likes the traditional quilting and the traditional borders. I may spring from my box some day!
I think your workmenship is quite stunning

Hey! The reason we are good at what we do is that we pay attention to details! The flip side of that is that we pay attention to details! Of COURSE we notice the small mistakes we make! If we didn't notice things like that, we would never progress in our craft.
We just need to make a vow that we won't let that attention to detail ruin our enjoyment of our final product. Learn, don't agonize!
Besides, my mantra is that since I give away almost every quilt I make, what do I care? It's not MY quilt! (LOL)

Florence,
It could be that one of the judge's comments on her quilt was about her corners and that's why she got 2nd place.
I know I notice everyone's mitered corners ever since that happened to me. The comment was "All 4 corners should match".
:?: :?: :?:  :?: :?: :?: What the............................does that mean?
