Virginia Tech - one more thing...

    Quilting friends,

You might remember that, after last year's shooting tragedy at Virginia Tech, I started a project to make 60 quilts for the families and survivors of this event. About 300 people have helped with this effort, and at this time I am very pleased to let you know that the Virginia Tech quilts are finished...and they are SPECTACULAR. I wish everybody could see them in person. They absolutely glow, and the love and compassion that went into them is obvious.

Over the next few weeks, I and a few of my local quilting friends will be stitching on labels before mailing the quilts to the university for distribution to the families.

If you have an embroidery machine or a machine that stitches text (I don't), and would like to make a label or two in the next few days for the last stage of this project, please email me and let me know. I'll give you the exact wording (so they're all alike). I'll also be able to keep track of how many to expect - I only need about 30-40 more, so I don't want anyone to go to the trouble of making more than necessary.

I'll make sure to let you all know when I post the photos of the finished quilts. Wait until you see them...

Thank you to all who have already contributed to this effort. There is no way one person could have done this alone.

Good for you. No machine to help you. But you have done a wonderful job!

Angelina thanks so much for the update-- several times recently I've wondered about how it's going and of course never remember when I'm at my 'puter and can check. When you send them out, you should send out a press release--at least to the Associated Press in Va., if you need contact info let me know, I'm in the newspaper biz. This effort deserves recognition, and of course the families need to know they're not forgotten as time passes. Thanks again, Florence
