BIG MISTAKE ---- CLEANING
I just had my house cleaned by a friend. She need the money and since the house was a wreck and I was gone dealing with my mom and funeral... I THOUGH THIS WOULD BE A WIN - WIN situation.
Do not get me wrong my friend is great and knows NOT TO THROW OUT MY QUILTING STUFF .... she is a crafter and knows that sewing notions look unusual.. small pieces of fabric are perfect for my applique..... BUT she does ORGANIZE ... OR DISORGANIZES.
I got up this morning planning to quilt but my thread box is missing... I had about 100 threads I use for top quilting and I can not find my bin... She says she did not see it... so that means it can be anywhere.
I want to scream !!!!Tags: None

Hi ladyRags,
When I first started working for Ricky it was out of his house in Arvada, CO, and his studio was a long room next to where I worked. Needless to say, the clutter of creative genius was everywhere. Being the good Catholic girl that I am, I asked him one day if he would like me to not pick up or put away but just put similar things together in one place. He looked at me with horror and blurted out "No, it may be hard to believe but I can find what I need." So I just stepped over it!! I don't think I would allow someone to clean up my sewing room under normal circumstances, but sometimes, like in your case, you just gotta let someone do it for your own sanity and breathing room. You'll find that thread box when you least expect it (and, of course, when you don't need it!).

Hi Pat, Hope you all had a great time doing Super Seminar in Paducah sure wish I could have been there with you (and my pal, Dana, the sweet angel of God and isn't she that regardless of what her other friends say LOL)
I have heard stories about Ricky's studio and only wish the clutter gave me as much creative energy and marvelous ideas as he has. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
On the issue of others cleaning your studio, I learned that dh and I do not think alike when he took over the bookkeeping and filing for the household. I would have trouble finding a lot of things if I hadn't insisted that he keep most of my filing categories. He added some of his own that I do not understand but know if he is not around I can sift through the papers and everything is there. Needless to say he is not allowed to touch or put away anything in the sewing, quilting, craft studio. He can borrow things as long as they are returned to the exact same spot even if it makes no sense as to why it is there.
And Anna I understand the frustration of looking for something that you know is right there but just cannot be found. It will show up when you least expect it. (the cleaning fairies work that way). There is value in bright colored cased for things because they are easier for these older eyes to spot.
and Anna, a little belated but have been thinking about you and your family these past days. Losing a Mom is never easy even when Mom is ready, somehow we are not. We lost my Mom in "04 and still miss her especially at the family gatherings that she loved so much but we know she is still with us and watching over us at all of our events. Time will heal and give you peace.
Ann

Thank you for your kind words about MOMMA. My sister is getting married this weekend... ( momma said do not delay for ANY REASON. I THINK SHE KNEW.) We will leave a spot for her in the pew cause we know her spirt will be there.
I solved it like any quilter.... I went on a shopping trip and bought all new thread... small spools since I needed so many colors... but at least I got started. I want this quilt done before the baby is too big to use it.

I am so sorry about you losing your Mom. It is something that no matter what is said is never easy. What I use to say to the families left behind when I was at hospice was:
When a child is in the womb the only world they know is dark and warm. The only sound they hear is coming from their mother's heart and her voice. It is LOVE. Then they are taken from that world into a bright colorful world where there is so much love. At first the transition is so scary, as most moves are. It is suddenly cold, loud and harsh. Then the next thing they know they are in their Mother's arms. They are laying on her chest and there is so much LOVE from so many more people. The world is bright and beautiful. They live their life and then the day comes to make the transition to the next world. For some it is harsh and others it seems peaceful but for the ones left behind it is never easy. Just know the next world is even more beautiful and colorful then we could ever imagine. That and sometimes our Mothers maybe there to meet us. However, I do know that our Father is there and that means there is other perfect LOVE. This may ease some of your pain but I know you will still miss her. I do wish I could help you in that regard. Just know that all the worlds are connected and she can still feel your love and if you think about it and listen you will be able to feel hers. God bless Rachel

LadyRags...
My sincere condolences concerning the passing of your mother.
My mother passed 9 years ago in Feb. ....my father many year before. By the time I was 40, I had lost both my parents. I miss them every day. I don't care how old you are when your parents pass....you miss them.
My hope for you that rejoice in your memories.
I wouldn't have any problem for someone to clean my house...but my sewing area....not so much. It is like my desk...I do know where everything is placed.
But anyone wants to break in and clean bathrooms....I can tell ya where the key is!!
