    Hi Eileen
as you can see Maureen has put up some links. have been unable to access my computer until now because of a terrible wind storm in Victoria that saw many of us without power for at least 48 hrs, so there was no sewing and no internet or computing but the upside there was no ironing or much house work either

I too am bored with most quilt magazines..... and I do like contemporary quilts, old quilts, pieced, appliqued and art quilts too - but I like quilts that are original and striking.
SO....I really like the French mag - Quiltmania (yes, they have an english version).... great for inspiration as they show a lot of quilts that are "different". They print on high quality paper and really have great photos of quilt shows/events - and not just the US events but from European and Japanese shows as well.

Just to chime in and say the book, "Quilting Makes the Quilt" is such an eye opening book. I bought it before I really understood what a fantastic book it is --- years ago!

Highly recommend adding to your library.

I was talking to an editor of one of the Australian Patchwork mags during the week and I asked why they do not put the publication month on the magazines. Apparently it is because they do sell the magazines in the US and their marketing dept. don't want the magazines to 'look' as if they are out of date when they get there.

Now isn't that interesting? I think there marketing dept is out of touch. I don't think quilters look at magazines like that at all.

I buy the Quilters News letter magazine here and it never worries me that it is a couple of months old.

I get quite a few quilting magazines -- but have been letting some of the subscriptions expire, as the quilts aren't very interesting. I keep all my old magazines in boxes, and periodically pull a few out from the bottom of the pile to browse thru with a cup of coffee or when I can't sleep. Luckily, I don't seem to have a very retentive memory, so I get to enjoy them all over again...and at no additional cost!

Sigh. I can hardly wait til this phase passes...

Beth I couldn't agree more, the fabric reminds me of either mmoommoo's or curtain fabric, what's worse they are making clothes with these designs. I thought it was just me. Thanks I feel much better. Debbie

I told her that one of my favorite things in the magazine had been when they showed the homes/studios of quilters. There's now a one page thing every month with people's sewing rooms. Everyone is invited to send in their stuff.
I stopped my Fons & Porter, I'll not renew Quilt magazine. I'm leaning more toward the longarm trade magazines now. They have more information that I can use.

I purchase alot of Australian magazines, quilting and embroidery, when you do find them alot of what you buy can be a year or two behind. But their designs are so exciting and new that even a year can still be ahead of the quilting mags here!! Which can be a sin.!!! Debbie

                    Debbie,
                    I subscribe to:

                    The Professional Quilter
                    Unlimited Possibilites
On Track(it comes with my IMQA membership)
                    Quilting Professional

That's all I can think of right now. I'm not home this week. I'll check again next week when I'm back in the studio.
I like them because they are geared toward people in business. I'm going to cut back on most of my others. The only one I can't ever give up is Quilters Newsletter.

I really don't like most of those retro fabrics. Especially the brown, turquiose, white combo. It's all over, even in clothing. I don't even think those colors look good together.  :x

Thank you Eileen: I subscribed to unlimited possibilities. When I went Mqx they gave a free copy of machine quilter's their sister. But I could not remember the other :?: Thank you again debbie My passion has been for the last few years has been the machine embroidery and quilting. The designs are unbelievable. Alot of what I really drool over  are the australian quilts, that are embroidered and then quilted, either traditional or white on white, comtemporary, well that is not really  my bag. I have two quilts that are from Jenny Haskins that I have to make. 8) I'm really excited about that. So thank you again. debbie
