Gallerygal, I was wondering if the stapleless stapler would work with holding fabric to paper? This would be very safe for the kids and no mess at all. Anyone have one to try it out? My DGD used a regular stapler to make all her 'paper qults'.

I love hearing about everyone's current projects! This is a picture of the one I just started. If you click on the picture you can see it full size. It's called Eureka and the designer is Jackie Robinson.

Judging by the other quilts on your site, this one will be a work of art too!
        Your work is beautiful.

Thanks, sewbug. Just keep in mind that I didn't post pictures of the ones that didn't turn out so great. I have enough of those to fill a whole album!

I would like to have them do a quilting activity- I thought I would cut small squares and half squares from various of our hand dyes scraps, and let them each design a "quilt on a piece of 8 1/2 by 11 card stock. I had thought just to have them glue stick the fabric down and put their names on the bottom of the paper. Does anyone have any feedback for me on this idea, or alternative ideas for quilting projects with preschoolers?

I am working on a baby quilt. It is a pattern from Keepsake Quilting. The one with the planes and the hearts. The blues in it are beautiful. I just have to finish the hand quilting. As for my other UFO'S...well thats another subject.

Right now I have two quilts that need quilting and I'm starting piecing a double wedding ring for my niece. But I have a long list of projects that I want to work on this year.

Quiltbirdie, please tell us more about the Little Women quilt. That was one of my favorite books and I'd love to know more about what you are working on.

I'm starting a new topic for Gretchen's Quilt Project for Pre-schoolers. I'm also starting one for ideas about good ways to approach projects for elementary school age kids. Have at it gang! - Ricky

I am just finishing a Musical Theather quilt for a friend and was looking for some musical notes to put on the label. Does anyone know a site where I can find a boarder like of musical notes? Also, I am interested in finding out more about the Jo's Little Women's applique work. That was a favorite book of mine and the Alcott home is not far from my home. I do a lot of had work especially, red/blue work.

This is my first time on the forum and really am looking forward to meeting some old friends and making some new ones.

I'm working on a bargello design. I got the pattern from a library book on lap quilting, but I sure won't quilt this bad boy on my lap. I enlarged the pattern cuz the pieces were so small, now the overall size is overwhelming. But I'm sticking with it! It's for my oldest son. The pattern is a phoenix. The bird is yellow, orange, and red. The background is black. It should be amazing if I can ever get it pieced.

The main project I'm working on right now is a movie challenge quilt. I'm making Spaceballs the Quilt. I didn't want the background to be plain, so I made a convergence and set it on point, then added some simple borders. Then I got to cut holes in my quilt and sew in some circles ("balls"). Now I'm working on free-motion machine quilting it, well learning I should say. :P
Since I don't get a lot of time to work on the machine, I don't really think about all the UFO's I've probably accumulated in my short time as a quilter, but I do know of one that will probably be a UFO forever. It's a rather ambitious frog pond quilt. When I designed it, I gathered frog patterns from various sources, so it's big and has a lot of paper piecing in it. So far I only have 3 frogs done, lol.
I also have a great idea for a MicroCosmos, and I'm hoping I can make it in time for the show, hehe.

I'm working on too many things at once, of course. Let's see--I'm trying to finish a small wall hanging of snowflakes/winter blue for my cubicle wall at work. Also, I am determined to finally machine quilt a quilt that I made as a one day mystery quilt in July of 2005. Very close to finishing handquilting the border of a very bright lap quilt I've been working on in fits and starts while we watch TV as a family. Then there's a large double wedding ring quilt for a friend, and.......

I have got to master this machine quilting thing if I'm going to get everything done. There's a pile of tops on my piano that are aching to be layered and quilted, and I'll not get them done until I get to the machine!

I am working on a John Flynn Mystery Wheel. The front had such pretty colors that I did a border and backing in a Black Batik. I am machine quilting with white thread on top using a tear-away star pattern and the bobbin thread is a bright blue verigated. It's coming along wonderfully.

As for Strip Clubs, I love them. I don't always follow the pattern to the letter, but it gives me a wonderful new pattern and some very pretty fabric.

I have been known to mix one Strip Club Month with another at times.

My boys, who are 24 and 21 have been heard to say they can't believe their mother is a member of a strip club. I tell them you MUST have some excitement in life.

                                Hi Katydid -

Jo's Little Women is a program from Jo Morton, who designs Civil War repros for Andover Fabric. We meet at our LQS for a new, small (doll quilt size) project every month. Jo Morton, the designer, has designed these small quilts just for the Jo's Little Women clubs.
