Here is a link to my blog on TQS:

    community/my-profile/she-quilts

That is the link to the 4 patch posies post.

I have the rows together and just 2 more sets of sashing/corner posts to go. DD was home for the weekend so I got NO sewing done. Sweet sorrow. ;-)

I too, was disappointed in the HD designs website.

Your quilt is gorgeous!!! I love your choice of fabric! I already emailed my friend who owns the local quilt shop and suggested we get a group of us to make these :-)

I have a great blue hydragea on yellow background fabric that I'd like to make in the larger size blocks. I really like the larger size blocks because you can see the design better. Neen and Joyce thank you for sharing your photos. They are wonderful. Peggy in St. Louis where the autumn foliage is at it's peak. SIMPLY GORGEOUS!

I thought it was recommend to have smaller patches to make the block up. The patterns I have read have all said to keep the blocks less than 4 inches to make a 8 inch block.

I was told larger patches defeat the purpose of having the stacked blocks cut out. I guess it diminishes the impact of the blocks. I suppose it depend upon the fabric and the repeats.

Any one else thoughts on this ? I would really like to know how big of the blocks you can make as I tend to like larger size blocks as the quilt sew up so fasst.

Anna, my flannel 4PSP quilt, up above, has 12" blocks. The border print that I used called for bigger blocks.

And, it's your quilt and your rules!!!!

Carol, that taught our workshop said she was put off by the "rules" of the pattern to keep it less than 4". She did a large tropical fish print and cut her patches 5 1/2" and it looks just fine. The effect was still there.

I came up w/ my 4 1/2" cuts this way. I found my repeat and it was around 14" and I cut my 4 sections. I figured that the biggest block I could cut and get the best use of my fabric was 4 1/2". I wanted as big as possible b/c I wanted a big quilt for my queen sized bed.

I got 12 blocks from my section and then I have 3 blocks leftover that I trimmed to 3 1/2" square. I could make a table runner or something with them.

I needed 56 blocks for my quilt so I used 6 sections and didn't use 4 blocks that didn't have much of a swirl. So far so good....

But I have the flu this week and haven't sewn on it since Thursday. boohoo!!

Very creative use of that fabric, which I always thought was very cute.

I have just started working on a 4 Patch Stacked Posie Supreme quilt, that is just as addicting as the 4 Patch Stacked Posie.

I am also addicted to the One Block Wonder quilts, and have lots of different fabrics for some more of those, that I may use for the 4 Patch Posie. But once I figured out how to cut and sew my triangles to fit properly on the One Block Wonders, I haven't had any problems with those blocks fitting together. I have two OBW quilts that are ready to go on my design wall to arrange the blocks before sewing together, and one on my design wall that I need to finish sewing together. I just wish I had more time to spend on quilting.. and less time working. LOL

Would someone be able to tell me the web address for H D Designs that has the 4stacked posies pattern? These quilts in that pattern are awesome. Thanks in advance for any help.

I think that the size of the blocks would depend on the scale of the print--if it's a very large-scale print, the blocks could be bigger, but if a very small scale print, it would turn out better with smaller blocks.

I cut my squares 5", but may need to trim the blocks a little when I have them all sewn. I'll try to post a couple of pictures soon. Won't have much time to work on this for a few days, though.

I always found the more colors / more background the prettier and more interesting the blocks were. This technique is totally addicting. I want to get back to making these quilts and will as soon as I finish my baby quilts.
