    Paper piecing question

Hello, I am working on a paper pieced project but when I sew two pieces together and pinning the Center and both ends and sew on the line and at the end I noticed that the sewing line on the back has shifted above the sewing line. I have been using the pins but try not to bend them and have been clipping the two sides together with the clover clips so it will not move. That works sometimes but other times i have to take it apart and resew it together and that works usually the second time round. Is there any other suggestions you have for me?

Watch show 2401. Becky Goldsmith has excellent tips for paper piecing. Her quilt Sizzle is a challenging paper piecing project, her tips apply to any kind of paper piecing. Her use of a positioning pin might help you a lot.

Erica, There was another way of pinning units together that worked for me besides Becky Goldsmiths great tutorial in the show
Barbara mentioned. Rather than putting the pins perpendicular to the raw edges, put the pins in the sewing line so it is in the ink line both on the top and on the bottom. Put pins the length of the two units about one or two inches apart, pull out pins as you sew to them.
Nothing shifts, and the original placement of the pins is not push the fabric sideways. It keeps one line directly on top of the other line. It works for me. It is good you are trying
to correct it, because as you piece the entire quilt, being off the line even 1/8 of an inch adds up really fast. HelenW
