I loaded my quilt top on the classroom show-and-tell, but since so many of you gave me valuable help and advice along the way, I thought I'd post the picture I took of my Holiday Lights quilt here too. In the classroom video, Alex talked about modifying the lights in the pattern, so I thought she would forgive me if I redesigned mine. With these lights the 1/4" cord looked better too so I made a smaller bias tape.

This has been a fun quilt top to make. I'm toying with all sorts of ideas for quilting it, to include making a run up to my sister's and loading it on her HQ 16 to run a panto design on it when she can let me use her machine. The alternative is to do it on my Bernina 830, which is not a terrible idea either. Any thoughts on the quilting?

Thanks, Marilyn! The fabric for the lights was a fat quarter I had from SewBatik--was wondering what I would ever do with it since it had so many different splotches of color on the piece but it worked out just right for this project, didn't it?

That's beautiful! The batiks makes it look as though there is transparancy in the light bulbs, which looks great!
I love the warmth that the beige/cream give. Very nice work.
I didn't start mine yet, just like many, life had other priorities... but all my patterns are printed for paperpiecing, just need to cut and sew!

Thanks, Andrée. It was hard to stop-and-go so this went in spurts, but whenever I had a spurt it was long one! I can't believe that the next step is the sandwich! At least you're ready to go when there's an opening. Bonne chance avec ton quilt!

                    Renta,
What a wonderful treasure. Very nice also thanks for sharing.
Question? Did you randomly place the cord and lights?

I printed out my papers for paper piecing yesterday, cutting them out tonight, and hopefully piecing full blast for a few days. I love this quilt, and Renata, yours is just gorgeous! Beverly

TJ, thank you. Originally, I penciled in some lines using a flexi-curve ruler, but then when I actually started placing the bias tape down, I totally disregarded the penciled lines because I liked better what I was coming up with on the fly! I've never done a vine applique' in a border so I even surprised myself when I suddenly went random.

For anyone interested, of course many of you are more experienced and know better... I put the lights on the border while on the design wall. I trusted that the Lite Steam-a-Seam 2 behind the lights would hold up while I transferred the quilt from the design wall to the pressing area. As I started moving the quilt, the lights started showering down onto the floor... Lesson1: put a pin on the light if you're going to put it on the design wall. Lesson 2 (which luckily I had done): take a picture of the quilt !

Thanks for your comments, Wendy and Beverly. Good luck with yours, Beverly!

Yup, been working over over overtime for the past month getting ourself ready for our upcoming exhibition. off to Düsseldorf first thing next Monday ( week from tomorrow). Tomorrow we have the shipment of all the display stuff being picked up by the transport company... I was all done with the packing at 1 pm Saturday - yeah! Now for the last brochures to be done, and all the travel details and on site stuff to be sorted and given to everyone. Will be another busy week, but I now see the daylight!

For the time being I'll sneak in and grab a short TQS fix whenever I can, I hope to be back the last week of November... If the Xmas prezzies get done, the first bunch was mailed this weekend, now for the family package... That's still missing stuff

No worries, this year too shall pass, and soon it will be Easter
