    lodge style baby quilt

My Daughter-in-law is due Aug.8 with a boy.what pattern would make a good lodge style quilt? Thanks, Dixie

I'm not sure what a lodge-style quilt is, but the word "lodge" makes me think of a log cabin, so maybe a log cabin quilt would be nice.

Block houses made of log cabin blocks with bear paws in between, and to lighten it up, add a few pine trees... Be sure to make one of the trees decorated...
And if your worried it'll seem Christmassy, make trees or flowers for the different seasons...
Hmmmm I think I'll have to place this general idea on my to do list...
Hope lots more ideas heading this way... Problem is, then it might just turn king sized to fit it all in
        But fun

Bird, squirrels, owls. For a baby, I would stick to baby animal, and maybe do a log cabin block around the baby appliqué? It could look really cute in pink, blue or green and yellow, if you didnt know the sex. Maybe alternate blue green and or yellow blocks since it is a boy. This could one cute little quilt. The options are endless. Creative juices are a flowing.....

Okay, I just re-read your post and you only have maybe a month plus ??? There are some really cute pre printed animal fabrics. Fussy cut and do a log cabin piecing. Done! Well, I hope. easier for me to say.

Dixie, I can't tell from your profile if you like applique, but this could be a really special quilt for a grandson.
It wouldn't be a quick job, but it would be really special for a lodge quilt!

And unless required as a cot quilt, it could be done for the first birthday...
I.e. do a quick nine patch or similar with fun bright fabrics (as babies see the bright colors first) in time for the baby's birth, and then enjoy yourself with the critters quilt

When people do baby quilts, do you use fire resistant fabric for the backing?

I've never used fire retardant fabric but I do use Quilters Dream Angel batting. It is made from non flammable fibers.
