Susan, I finally got around to playing with the green batting you sent me. I do think that I get better stitch definition with it than with the cotton I have been using. Thanks again for sending it! If you want to see what I made with it, I'm going to post a picture of it soon on my TQS blog.

Still experimenting with different battings etc. For the one I'm working on now I'm using Hobbs 80/20 in black. When I first got it out of the packaging i did not like it at all. It was stiff and did not relax after a few days out of the bag. So I did something I've never done before. I washed it. Well, not really. I soaked it then let the water spin out and then dried it in the dryer on fluff. Liked it much better after that. Anyway... I am liking the way it's looking thus far. When I get it all finished I'll wash it and then see how I like the final results. But I am definitely getting more of the look I wanted as far as defining the stitches than I did with the 100% cotton I had been using habitually.
Thanks to all of you for your advice and feedback.

I generally run some steam over the batting to undo the creases and let it fluff up. Or just put it in the dryer for a little spin in warm air.

Now why didn't I think of that? Thanks, Lottie!
