My fabric doesn't move around and I love it. My board sets on top of one of those laundry dividers. I throw my scraps in there, lights, darks and fleece or batting pieces. It is on wheels and can be moved around.
Arlene, what is a laundry divider? Can you show a pic? I've got to do smething about both scraps and an ironing surface. What do you use under the duck? Do you have the Blocking Boad Pad?

I have spent the last week totally redoing my sewing room. I cleaned out a lot of stuff and rearranged my furniture to make a better set up. I also went to IKEA and bought a side board storage unit to convert into an ironing station! It's solid wood, 47" wide x 16" deep x 35" tall. It has 2 drawers and two shelves so lots of storage under it, which my old ironing board never had. I will be covering it with a removable topper like you built, and will now add the Blocking Board Pad instead of batting.

Margo, are these pics of your new and improved sewing room? I really love that tile floor!
Michelle, do you have a pic of your newstorage unit? I'm taking all suggestions for both ironing surfaces and scraps and storage.

Thanks for the further research Pam! I know that Golden Hands Industries does not have a web site, and was not aware that MaryJo's carries the blocking pad.

Thanks for the website. I wasn't having any luck finding a source online. Margo, is this pad solid enough that you get a good press on your fabric? I have a Big Board over my ironing board. I bought it at a show several years ago and love it. I have a couple of layers of batting under the cover now but would like to have something I can stick pins into.

Absolutely, Fi! I have not used a "Big Board" and don't know what kind of pad they use, but I am really pleased with this blocking pad for both pressing and blocking.

This is how the instructions for the 2013 BOM "Two Of Us" tell us to block our strips for the border in month 1.
The pins stay firmly in place, right where I put them.

Eileen, look at ikea.com and put NORDEN in the search box. I bought the black one that's 47 x 16 x 35, there is also a longer one that is birch wood color.

Margo, are you cheating or are you making the BOM in another colorway for us all to admire?

Thanks, Michelle! I'll take a look. We have an Ikea about an hour from us.

This fabric is from the "Two Of Us" kit but my camera obviously didn't do the colors justice! I have only gotten the preview pattern for month #1, and I am NOT on the design team for this one, so I don't know how the rest of it will work out. We will all be working on this one together!

Pam, thanks so much for the heads up on free shipping at MaryJo. And I didn't even have to start thinking about sizes and all since it is already measured out. Ordered and done!

Margo thanks for the info on your pad. I've been planning to make a bigger ironing surface and this pad sounds perfect!

                        I LOVE free shipping!!

Eileen, this is a picture of what my setup was when I first did it. Notice the silver fabric. I used a heat resistant padding under the canvas. It can be found at JoAnn's and it has two thin layers of batting with a silver metallic material sandwiched between. It is used for pot holders.
