fleece for batting?

    fleece for batting?

    Margo,

Your advice is appreciated by all.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family now.
I have a question about batting. My quilts are ment to be loved and used, so they will be washed and dried regularly. Would fleece work for batting? I have some left over from a school play project and I am considering it for a small quilt.

I've never used it, but several of the folks in the long-arm group I belong to use it for backings and sometimes just use 2 layers for snuggle quilts!
    I say go for it!

I have used fleece a number of times for the backing on quilts. When I use fleece, I don't use any batting as they are just the right weight that way. I have found that when using fleece, it is best to spray baste. When I tried pinning one time I had a lot of slippage and ended up taking out my stitching and redid it with spray basting. Betty D

Thanks to both of you. I am going to try it and see. I think you are right BettyD about using it for backing but not this time. We were making carrots and green beans for the K-garten play and it is lime green and bright orange. I'll try it when I have a pretty piece.

Nancy (Sewing with Nancy) uses fleece for batting for quilted clothing and bags. I think it would work nicely.

I made a baby quilt several years ago and used fleece as batting/backing. The result was a very cosy but light weight quilt. It's now used by the third baby in that family and has been washed lots. It still looks great.

Great! That's what I was worried about. I wondered if it would hold it's shape. It's great to have access to all this info.
                I appreciate your reply.
