may I insist in telling you to go to www.riodesigns.co.uk if you didn't already. you will see that IT IS THE EQ's retailer (not a quilting shop reseller) and have the same offer than Heather told about
he is in direct link with EQ USA. may be you could suscribe to his newsletter to be aware of deals all year long as you're not in a hurry.

Electric Quilt is an awesome tool. I have used Electric Quilt, since 1994. In the beginning EQ was only available on floppy disks, and it did not have video tutorials embedded within the software, so each time I used the navigation in the menu, I wrote an index card with directions. In the 1990s it was upgraded and I purchased EQ5 at the Houston International Quilt Festival and have upgraded each time to the current EQ7. Soon I didn't need to refer to the index cards, unless it is something I don't use very often. Of course there are currently, great tutorials in the software. In the beginning, For me, there was a learning curve, but it was easily mastered. If I can do it, ANYONE can. I use this program daily in designing blocks, patterns, planning quilt layouts, printing templates, printing quilt labels and exporting images into Microsoft Publisher for patterns, quilt guild newsletters, stationary, and envelopes. I have upgraded computers several times since 1994, with major crashes on the hard drives. Electric Quilt support has been with me every step of the way, and had invaluable advice each time I experienced a crash. The key is to keep your documentation, and make back-up copies on an external hard drive. If you get stuck contact Electric Quilt support. In addition, I keep a 128g thumb drive specifically for storing Electric Quilt design files. Nothing is more frustrating than losing your work.
Love EQ and I hope you find it to your liking. Regards from the The Texas Wild Horse Desert

Shoebox Quilts
Thanks for the the great over view. I ordered the Mac version on USB. I have installed it and have been trying to develop the skills.
It has been a difficult road. But I need time to go through the videos.
It seems like an interesting program. But it is very difficult. Conforms to no standard graphics protocol.
I have been using adobe illustrator to design and graph my quilts. But I will go though the videos and lessons when time permits
But again thank you.

I am considering the EQ Stitch and am interested in any comments good or bad or any suggestions on it. Would it be a good investment? By the way, perhaps you can advise me of proven electricians who do their job efficiently? I live alone and sometimes there are problems with electricity in my house. Most often, specialists who come to me do not know their work well. In addition, the prices for their services are extremely high. I was advised to contact electrician charlotte because this company has been on the market for many years and their services are really always in demand. However, if you have any other suggestions, I would appreciate it if you share them.

You can go to Electric Quilt website and ask Customer Service if it is even still an option.
I love EQ8 but it has a real learning curve if you happen to be like me and don't have a lot of background in computer software.

TPeyne, I don't have a background in software but I can tell you that EQ8 is quite affordable. the 8 version is far best and have a lot of items to create your quilt easily.
you could, as HelenW advise you to go on their blog BEHIND THE MOUSE ; search CLASSES WITH YVONNE; they offer free classes to use the EQ8 from begining and more, step by step.
this could give you an idea of what you could do and how it could be easy...or not...for you.
I add that their help & technical service is very easy to reach : you could chat online.... if you need advise
the EQ8 is easy to download.
I hope this could help you.
