    Eileen,

Eileen - I love your Block one - Hold On To Your Heart! Looking forward to your next block!

Lotti - Wonderful to see the historical quilts! I agree with Geneva's comment "good to see our work is valued after we're gone".

Luanne - Fun to see your machines stitch counter and latest projects too. I particularly like your baskets.

I've been working on a graduation quilt for my Granddaughter Josephine. Its called "Tutti Frutti". Designed by Darlene Zimmerman. So far so good but certainly a challenge making accurate 1/4" seams!

Eileen, Love your block 1 of hold onto your heart. Is this appliqué or machine stitch project, or both. I looked up the quilt and it looks like it is probably
appliqué or EPP. I have always wanted to try something like this. It seems like you have to have facebook for a lot of the pattern help these days.
Unfortunately, we don't feel comfortable doing facebook. HelenW

Thank you for the kind words, this block took a lot longer than it should have. But I'm going to persevere.
Helen, it's hand applique, and so is most of the quilt. You don't have to have Facebook to access it. Esther's patterns are available on her site: estheraliu.blogspot.com
          Have a great day everyone!

Luanne, your basket is wonderful! I like the quilting motif of the travel trailers too!
Eileen, your block is beautiful. Sometimes, although challenging, projects like yours will be so memorable!!
Lotti, I loved the history tour.
Barb, your tuttti fruttii quilt is terrific. Your granddaughter will love it!

Yesterday was my day to post. . .I just forgot!!! I finished the sketchbook revival online workshop. My last post is here. I'm trying to doodle/draw more often to improve my skills. Sometimes, Miss J draws with me. Miss J finished her girl quilt. I entered it in the county fair and she won a blue ribbon. Daughter Nicole visited for week. She managed to squeeze a couple quilts into her suitcase. "Into the Depths" is now living in the UK. She also purchased some drapery panels which she wanted hemmed.

I did finish quilting my "Star Patch" quilt. For the 2019-2020 guild year, I am heading the challenge quilt activity. This quilt was my sample. If any of you would like play along; let me know. I will share the contest guidelines. I finished a thread catcher and a couple workout tops for the grands. Yesterday, I shared a post about my husband, Bob. Today, I'm planning to work on a selvage project. Life is great!

                Hello!!

I'm late. My day is the 13th and it slipped by. We took care of our 3 and 5 year old grandsons last week on the spur of the moment. Their dad and our daughter needed to go to Sacramento to care for his mother. The boys have never been away from their parents for 5 days, but they know us very well. Despite pink eye  , a messy accident at Target,, we all had fun, survived and laughed a lot. it made us feel good to be able to help out their folks. We sure love those grands! They enjoyed Smore's one evening around the fire pit. So did we!

On a whim I decided to enter the Cherrywood Bob Ross challenge. This year the challenge was to make a 20" x 20" quilt using only the colors they provided. And Cherrywood decided how much of each color you got. I decided to make a quilt of our view out back. We have Cedars we planted, sage brush, then beyond that the 875 acre vineyard (not ours!), and beyond that the White Bluffs. The White Bluffs are horizontal and change color as the weather, time of day and seasons change. I enjoy making improv pieces and set to work. Here's a few pictures. I emailed the entry in and should hear something in Mid July. In any case, it was fun and challenging. I'm not good at specific sized requirements and limited color pallet. BTW, I couldn't make the White Bluffs horizontal as it just smashed into the vineyard and was a big mess. So my White Bluffs are vertical! I named this piece "Happy Hour View".

Tuesday our guild hosted Robin Ruth. She taught a class on how to make a Mariner's Compass using strip piecing. It was an awesome class! She is a great teacher. Her rulers are amazing and have the ability to make so many different types of Compass blocks from sizes 6" to 32". If you get a chance to take her class, I'd highly recommend it. Here's my sample I made in class. No circles were cut in the making of this piece!

Terry, I loved your tribute to your husband. I too, have a wonderful Bob in my life. How boring our lives would be without our Bobs!
Barb! I loved your Tutti Frutti quilt. I bet your granddaughter will love it It's so fresh! Is this the granddaughter that may go to school up here in Eastern WA?

I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of June. Hugs, geneva

I’m hoping that one of you will know who I’m referring to, or have the information I’m trying to figure out. A few years ago, probably within the past 5 years, there was a lady on the West Coast, Oregon perhaps, that would be featured on the blog. She often talked about food, and that she had lost considerable weight. She was remodeling her place, and had a terrific handyman thought understood what she wanted. There was a post about her taking a class where you would bring in a picture, draw new percpecive lines and do log cabins to create it in fabric. Well, she also would cut fabric into strips and knit them into rugs. It’s the ‘rugs thing’ I’m trying to figure out. I received countless (well, at least I’m not going to measure it!!) yards of double knit polyester from the church basement. I have washed it all because I couldn’t bear to pass along ‘stinky’ fabric. Lately I’ve been wishing for some sort of ‘hand work’ that would be easy and rather mindless. I figure I can make dog and cat mats for the shelter, true rugs for beside the beds at the homeless shelters, and that sort of thing. Sooo, does anyone remember who she is? I think her first name was Debbie, but I could be way off on that. OR,, do you have any ideas of how wide to cut the strips and what size crochet hook, or knitting needles, that would make a workable solution for me??? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading up to this point, lol.

                        Happy July to everyone!
I’ve been busy writing up my blog posts for the past 3 months and a quarterly review with year to date totals. I think I need a nap! ! LOL

                        http://letscreatetoday.blogspot.com/2019/07/2nd-quarter-and-mid-year-reviews.html

That should take you to the blog, but here are a few photos for those of you who don’t surf the net:

Just the three biggest projects at the moment.

We’ve been without our a/c for 5 days now. It’s been in the high 90s and heat index going over 100! Needless to say I’m not stitching much of anything in this heat and humidity. Hopefully this will get resolved soon and I’ll be able to do laundry as well as sew and press fabric. I don’t even want to run the dryer but it looks like the undies are getting low.... and I’m not a ‘comando’ kinda girl.....

Hope you all are staying comfortable and safe.

Hi all, somehow I missed posting in June and will do it a day early this month.
I just saw that my quilt, Flourish on the Vine, is going to Houston!!! It has to be in Houston my August 14, then Winners will be notified in Sept. and then I will decide to go. Pretty exciting news. Here is a pic..

I have been finishing this quilt, it is also mostly applique along with couching, yoyo's, embroidery, etc. It has taken 2 years and will be starting at the local fair and then Colo. State Fair. I plan to enter it into Portland Expo in Sept. Its called Spring Explosion.

I am enjoying summer (I like it hot) and hope everyone is too.
