Well, it would certainly be fun to try!

I received a Go cutter for Christmas. I have been working on rows and the cutter makes it faster and more accurate. Plus I am using up my stash. My plan for the coming year is to use up some of my stash. This row by row is helping and I plan to make some scrappy quilts.

In the latest American Quilter magazine there is an article about Janome asking famous quilters to make a quilt block using specific fabrics. Guess what!? They are all 6 1/2" square. 6" finished. I've already used 2 blocks for 2 different rows. Here is the link. http://www.janome.com/en/100quiltblocks/download-blocks/ These are fun to make. Since we only have to make 6 blocks it's a fun way to try new things. If you click on the picture of a specific block it shows how to make the block.

    Take care, geneva

Good for you, Geneva! I've heard most people who have a 'Go!" really like it.

And, thanks for the link. I have bookmarked it - so useful!

Rosemary, Sounds like you would need a canoe with all the rain up your way. Hope you aren't affected by the flooding that I am hearing about on the news.

We are well clear of the floods where we are, although all the rivers & canals are very full. Added good news is that although parts of York have been/are flooded, the Quilt Museum, despite being relatively close to the Fosse river, is sufficiently up an incline and also built above the height of the pavement outside, is clear and dry of the flood waters - unlike the Jorvik Centre which has been flooded out.

              Okay, here is it:

A TRUE Canadian is one who can make love in a canoe. (without it tipping over!) Pierre Berton
I notice that he doesn't say whether it is on the water or not :P Added to which if you choose your canoe carefully it shouldn't be a problem. The first canoe we got is so flat bottomed that we turn it over at camp and use it for a table and is as steady as a barge, whereas my new canoe, Tidger, is a 'very' curved/rounded bottom and is quite unstable in comparison (and would also be hopeless as a table)

Jen, you have my sympathy with the 'morning sickness' - it really is a complete misnomer, because as you say, it can be morning, noon & night. I hope you can find something too sooth it for you. I found eating a couple of crackers every hour helped for me, my sister found that a teaspoonful of ginger jam(marmalade), taken as needed, worked for her. I seem to recall reading that it is actually a 'hungry' sickness and needs food to settle it. Sounds counter intuitive, but hey, try weird things an see what helps.

Jen...I feel for you morning sickness isn't fun at all  crackers helped me too.
Haven't started my rows yet, as I didn't get the quilt for my son done before Christmas..just can't use my shoulder/arm for very long at a time yet. It's getting better all the time though, and I'm steadily working on it. I have the row designed, and will get it done in January. I am excited to start!

We went on a gondola ride it Venice....that's the only time I've been in a canoe....very tippy getting in  but once I was seated it was ok  don't think I'm a true Canadian :silly:

Geneva, you are such an inspiration to me! I too, have a Go! Cutter, and after your post, brought it back out. I was stressing over row scenes, and just decided to start with blocks, made with my Go! I did go onto the Janome site that you posted and picked a couple of blocks that I could sort of copy with the current dies that I have. Had a ball yesterday! Will work more on them today!

Marilyn, I know you have me first, and I know you have been struggling with health issues, so please take your time with my row. I don't care when I receive it! Please don't stress over it!!!

I tried to return the row kit I bought at my LQS, but they don't take back any patterns. I tried to explain that one fabric was cut too short, and the substitution on the sky fabric was not acceptable. The store owner was having none of that, gave me another sky (still not what was pictured on the kit cover page) and a slightly longer cut of the water fabric. I think what really ticked me off was when she kept telling me they went through 5 bolts of the sky fabric, just plain ran out, so made substitutions. I didn't feel that should be my problem. But, if you do the math, 5 bolts means she sold a whopping lot of row kits! You'd think she could have catered to a local regular customer, and let me return it, for a $12 credit! She made her money from them, and then some!! (The sky fabric is like 5" x 36". Divide that into 5 bolts!!!!!!!)
I'm done venting now! I'll go have fun on my GO!

I agree Dawn. Sometimes business owners forget that a little customer service goes a long way!

And about the rows. I was stressing also about what to make, etc and generally going way overboard. Once I saw the Janome site, and started using my Go cutter things became easier. And, I also realized that I can make the same block in different fabrics/placements for different rowers! Aha!

                            Now I'm having fun!
