Lovely outfits Karen. Some years ago I made the pinafore dress (the blue whales one on the right) as mealtime pinnies for Izzy, and lined them with shower curtain fabric/ waterproof fabric so that the food/liquid would not go through to her clothes. I also made some in white broidery anglais fabric (single layer) and stitched a clear plastic bag to the front underside for the same purpose for her to wear to a wedding. It looked very cute ( nicer than bibs and covered more) and worked really well.Lotti, Kuessnacht - Switzerland

The workshop yesterday was fun and although I'm a bit iffy about my project it's given me confidence to try cording layering and general playing.
The classmates were mostly embroiderers and there was some beautiful things being made.
My effort you probably need to lie on your side
Sorry I'll have to try something else

Wendy,
Your piece is way cool!! That's the most up to date phrase I've got. It's probably ten years old by now,, LOL
Your piece is very nice. What is the base fabric? And did you hoop it with that 6 inches or find a larger one?
Where did your embellishments come from? Oh, too many questions I suppose, but I'm very interested in the process.

Thanks it needs lots more working on. We used Temtex or similar as a stabiliser so no hoop was needed after all!
I layered pieces of hand dye then strips of different colour sheers and machined it down with various fmq designs then added bits of painted lace from old tablecloths and wedding bits (provided by tutor) and stitched into it and added scrim somewhere along the line. I finally got to use my cording foot to do the circle over the scrim that's something like the sun and corded the leaves in the bottom right. Stitched more random shapes as scattered flowers and that's about it so far. Phew

Karen, love the little one's outfits! Very cute.
Lotti, your pictures always make me say wow!
Wendy, I like your little piece. Very nice. How did you do the circular cording?
Dorothy, I like your shawl. Very pretty. What is the fringe?
Off for a family wedding this weekend! Giving the art quilt away. And, our nephew and his wife had their baby last night! Yay! They are the ones I made the rainbow baby quilt for.
Happy, happy times!

Dorothy thanks for the pics,I'd benxious camping with your neighbours
Geneva great news another little one. Enjoy the wedding, will you get to meet the new baby?
I did the circle with ordinary embroidery foot and zig zag stitch and wound my way out. I've only used the cording foot for the leaves and tendrils so far.
I've been playing with my piece from Sunday today and realise the bottom has wandered too far to the left so I cut some out, zig zagged it together again from the back and quilted some sari silk over the join. Living dangerously
