I've finished piecing this top. It measures 70" square. Sorry for the blur on the first picture, but my arms couldn't spread wide enough,,

Now I need to decide how I will quilt it, and what I will use for backing.
But I think I'm going to work on my mystery quilt from Terry first.

It's stunning Luann. Are you going to custom quilt it, lots of curls and feathers?

Wow Geneva and Luann... LOVE the quilts!!! NICE Only two more weeks before I can start sewing again...I have a quilt top done that I want to get quilted before Christmas  We are headed south for the winter today....so excited! I'm signed up for a class with Cindy Needham in January, and 2 days with Bonnie Hunter in July :woohoo: in the meantime, I've been watching old shows on tqs, and itching to get back to it :side:

I'm still deciding. I doubt I'll free motion it because I get so tense on something that took me this much time to complete. I'm looking at using my ProStitch assistant to the fullest. I've been thinking black iridescent thread on the black and feathers. Then in each of the squares skew designs to fit properly and use several variegated threads. Just in the pondering stage today,,

            Beautiful work, everyone!

Today I will get back to finish the FMQing on the purple quilt for my MIL. Only 2 rows to go, then of course binding and all. I finally feel able again after the Thanksgiving rush of people here, etc. Just caught up all the laundry yesterday, so now I can sew guilt-free.

After that I have to start on 2 small wall hangings, one for my mom, one for my aunt. They have fabric from dresses that their mom wore, which they want me to turn into small quilts for them. One a bookshelf wall hanging; the book spines will be the fabric from the dresses. The other a bed runner comprised of 7 trees, the leaves on each tree will be the fabric from the dresses. My aunt wants that one and thankfully she put fusible on the fabric and then cut the leaves out from the template I mailed her, so all I have to do there is iron them on and then sew as the quilting. Or something.

I will start on those once I get done all the way with MIL's quilt, which is meant to be a Christmas gift. The others, thankfully, can wait/be late.

            Happy sewing, everyone!

Beautiful quilt top, Luann! Fabulous areas to go to town quilting

Geneva your quilt for Dylan is lovely - I love stitch 4 for my dressmaking but have never tried it for quilting. Another idé for the list to try out. Frozen stuff is everywhere this Christmas - it seems to be a favourite just like Beauty and the Beast was years ago.

Terri, your vedding signature quilt is gorgeous. Such a lucky couple to be given such a memory. I have a memory tablecloth from my parents and I wish I knew who all the people were. Can I suggest you make a list of all the signatures and how they are connected to the couple alongside their surnames. If the couple end up with children they will want to know who those people are.

I am sorry I am going backwards in the messages because I am so far behind.

Rosemary I can certainly emphasize with you wanting to get your leaders-enders into a quilt. Can't see anything wrong with that. You'll have a lovely summer looking quilt. Fun to include fabrics given to you. No idea you had been a Brown Owl once upon a time.

You retreat quilt is so lovely, Dawn. You've caught autumn in all its glory

Heather, your Halloween quilt is great fun. The quilt you are making for your M-i-L will be a much appreciated gift I am sure. Your FMQ is coming on so nicely.

Congratulations on all the grandchildren that have arrived since I last visited. Lovely to see the next generation is arriving slowly but surely and all healthy and happy. Such a gift.

I think I have more or less caught up on this thread now. Anybody had any thoughts on what to do in 2016. Will we go on having a retreat thread or ???????????????????

Off to try to finish my Christmas blitz of the house  :P

This is the quilt I am working on....it's a super simple attic window with a panel that Jenny Doan from MSQC did a tutorial on. It only took a few hours to make, and I plan on getting it quilted in plenty of time for Christmas :side: :silly: It's not a good picture, but gives you the idea

I'm busy unpicking a row of fmq on a baby quilt I've made. Why don't I just stop when I see it's not working instead of going right across the quilt

If you ever find the answer to that one Wendy I'd like to know too. I always think it will sort itself out once I get more done but so far that has never happened. Little comfort to you I know but at least you know you're not alone

Dorothy, somebody is going to feel like a very lucky person when he/she opens the parcel that contains your quilt. What a great idea ot use a panel this way
