Jdeluka, awesome story! How I envy those who were close to their grandmas, aunts, etc! I had a great aunt who made a crazy quilt that hung on the back of our couch for years. At some point, my mother just tossed it! I would give anything for that quilt! It was not a cherished item for her, and unfortunately she never "nurtured" any of my creativity. You had/have something very special!

Sherry, I do hope you make it up here for our show! I haven't seen you in sooooooo long!

Dorothy, let me know the next time you head up here to Glacier Quilts, and maybe we can meet! Sorry you will miss our show, but it sounds like you will be having a very good time anyway.

Jdeluka, what a lovely memory. Thank you for sharing. And yes, needle and thread soothe us.

I am like Anne. Jdeluka's beautiful story brought enough tears to my eyes to leave tracks down my cheeks! Thanks so much for sharing.

Beautiful story! I learned embroidery from my Grandma, dad's mom. My own mom couldn't hardly thread a needle. Although in a round-about way, mom got me into quilting. A story for another time. I do have 5 of my great-grandmother's quilts that now I treasure more than when I was young.

It will not post the picture of the whole quilt...something may be wrong with that image. I'm going to try and post pictures of the quilt blocks now...

Finally success! It looks like the issue was with the single image in the bunch - there must be something wrong with the format. Sorry I can't share a picture of the whole quilt. Glad you all liked my story...this week has been hard at the clinic and I just needed to share. Thank you all for taking the time to listen. I'm so lucky to have a group like this to turn to when needed - even if it is only online. Your stories and images brighten my day

                      Jdeluka,

I apologize, I really do know how to spell gorgeous, but I'm using a new iPad and getting use to the screen/keyboard. Besides, my DH's name is George so it''s a natural default!
